I thought Jaime would stay, but I'm not surprised about Buemi.

These two should be great!

How many French drivers is that now.... Pic, Vergne and Grosjean.

From zero to three. Perculiar.

Is that the most French drivers since 1999?

(Alesi, Panis and Sarrazin)

That sucks for Jamie, he was comingly along very nicely indeed, and Buemi wasn't useless either. Neither were a Scott Speed fair.

Yeah 3 French drivers! It's getting quite retro, they'll want a Grand Prix back now :-O

AMAZING!

About time both of those got given the boot.

They've had enough time to 'prove' themselves.

I would have thought JA deserved one more season to do something spectacular, and more annoyingly, the Toro Rosso has got a lot better late season.

Either way, change is refreshing!

This is the injustice of the year (before it has even started!), and I'm talking about Alguersuari.

The injustice of '09 (IMO) was Bourdais' departure, the one of '10 was Hulkenberg's, '11 was Heidfeld's and now '12 is Alguersuari's.

I can't see why they dropped him.. he's great, he has a great deal of skill, he can win races if he's given the right car (how many people manage to get a 2011 STR in the Q3 so clearly?). For me, Buemi deserved the sack. I wish he's given a drive, but many excellent drivers have been (and are being) dropped for next season. A totally unfair decision by STR/RBR/whoever.

100% agree with this. Jaime could of possible been Webbers replacement if he continued to improve like he did this year.

Alguersuari was maybe pushed into the seat way too early in his career, which has been his downfall, hes the same age as Vergne i think, definitley has potential.

Toro Rosso/Red Bull have seen all 4 drivers in the car last year, have seen the traces and heard the feedback, so they know what they're getting and losing.

I fully expect Jaime will end up as the Red Bull reserve driver.

I see Alg getting a shot in Webbers seat for 2013, but that requires some sort of drive in 2012 to be on the ball, surely?

How on earth would you think Alg would get a full Red Bull seat if let go by TR. Sorry that makes no sense. Maybe one of these new two, more likely Ricciardo but Red Bull may likely look for a bigger name.

When Red Bull bought Toro Rosso, they weren't a front running team, so it would have been easy for them to sign a driver from Toro Rosso.

Now that Red Bull are one of the best on the grid, they can't really afford to do that anymore, which is a shame because that was the whole reason they bought Minardi and created Toro Rosso.

So I think that Alguesuari could only get a seat at Red Bull if he gets experience elsewhere. It would be crazy if he didn't at least get a test driver role.

It's not so much Toro Rosso dropping anyone, they pretty much have to play with any driver they're given. The real person behind this ruthlessness is Marko he's the main guru behind Red Bull's driver development thing. And Toro Rosso was basically created to give the best Red Bull up n comers a chance in F1 so that the works team didn't have to and could behave like a well established top team which would traditionally poach drivers from other teams once they'd gone through their proofing process.

I like the look of JEV. He's abit crash happy but I think he has an Alesi aggressive-ness :p! I watched the Bercy kart event and he was pretty okay there, though I figure whoever started on the first two rows had an easy ride given the chaos that went on behind. Still, he won Massa's kart event too until he got DQ'd (600 grams underweight!!!!!!!!!).

I know it is no gauge on how well he will fare in F1, but he seems a tad more special than either Buemi or Alg.

I quite liked Jaime though, he will get another chance in F1 no doubt.

For the frenchies out there, zero drivers to 3 :)! And one of them who is pretty handy, and the other looking to be decent.

IIRC that was Bianchi, not Vergne.

Well... Jaime came 2nd in Massa's kart race (1st after the DQ), and like Ed said Vergne didn't win. We're ripping you to pieces, Chet ;)

Seriously, though, I know what you mean. Alguesuari and Buemi are difficult to judge. But I think Alguesuari's got potential, and deserves another drive.

And france have Bianchi at Ferrari, too, so who knows? Maybe the grid will be full of cheese eating surrender monkeys, like the German drivers this year!

F1 needs another underdog with brilliance. I thought we had a new Alesi in Kobyashi, but he has dipped off the radar lately.

Hulkenberg and Di Reta confirmed at Findia.

Sutil will be clutching his various sponsor monies as he bangs on Sir Frank's door now. In fairness he's probably the best backed prospect available to Williams now. Though I'd still prefer Rubens. Alguersauri would be good but I think that's very unlikely.
