Isnt there a regulation now that even in the event of a protest, the race result will NOT change, but some other penalty maybe enforced to avoid Spa and Lewis incidents ???

Isn't that for driving incidents which would be punished with a drive through? This is for a technical infringement.

Technically, Charlie is correct. You can protest it. You can protest anything if you want. You can protest Ferrari being red if you wanted, you just won't win. The current regulations state that they can run these systems, and the engine mapping changes will appear for the Monaco GP at the earliest. You can't claim cars are illegal based on future regulations.

This is it though - are they legal?

Does the throttle pedal constitute a moveable aerodynamic device?

I'm sure it's a no-brainer to protest it, whether you'd win or not, but that might be avoided for the sake of common-sense and perhaps a bit of a financial sweetner.

Under the current regulations, yes. Like the Renault Mass-Damper, there had to be a minor change to the regulations to make it illegal. The new regulation will limit the amount of the throttle load when the driver is braking to 10% of the maximum load, thus producing less fumes to power the exhaust. That regulation won't be inserted until after this weekend - so under the current rules, it is illegal.

They sound horrible ill be glad to see the back of them tbh.

I doubt it will make much difference to how the team stand. Mclaren, Mercedes, Ferrari, RBR and Renault are the cars that sound pretty noticeably different off throttle but they happen to be the teams well ahead..

I dont know how they can be classed as moveable aero when they have rear brake duct mounted foils!! Big things too. They might pass through as a brake duct, but they move with the tire and probably the biggest moveable aero device on these cars.

I disagree with the protest, but I do want rid of the horrible sound!

edit - lol. Vettel must be the worst team mate to have right now :p! Only FP but that must still hurt Webber lol.

Tell me Vettel didn't open DRS 2/3 of the way around Campsa...

Did it in the final corner too. That's why I enjoy DRS for qualifying.

You can see the other drivers get lose through the final corner when they active DRS. That RBR is amazing!

Lol@Blundell being driver steward! Wish there was some sort of camera feed to their office, I'd love to him his wise words again ;)

I just can't understand why Vettel changes his helmet design every race ...

He's never had a helmet, so it's just a marketing tool. I doubt he ever does the designs.

Vettel robbed of a for sure record of poles due to regulations.

Nice for Webber, but damn even I wanted to see how many poles Vettel could 'really' get! GIVE HIM MORE TYRES!

edit - awesome lap for Alonso! Killer first sector somehow matching RBR!!!!! Alonso, is Alonso!

Disappointed they didn't go for another run, but like Chet says, it was the right thing just because of the regulations. Did Webber have KERS? Vettels was broken, but they never mentioned Webber.

Finally Mark got it together.

so, i dont understand. Eddie jordan said that michael schumacher didnt go out with the target to have another set of fresh softs for tomorrow. however the mercedes staff (norbert haug and r.brawn andeven schumacher himself) said it was a KERS issue. what do u think ?
