typical tilke bore. Yawn. a track built for the spectator to SEE the cars, intended as entertainment.

sadly, if it were designed for the driver, then you would see action regardless and wouldnt need to make such elaborate corners so everyone can see the cars.

spa has terrible access, yet is still a spectacle. go figure!

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

That looks like Tilke took all the poor elements from his other tracks, then mishmashed them together into this. It looks @#$%& diabolical.

What an utterly revolutionary track design, totally unlike anything we have seen before[/sarcasm]

It's a bit easier to see the track layout in this pic:

I think the top half looks good - you wouldn't hav thought that Tilke had designed that. But the bottom half... booooooo!!! It kind of reminds me of a Tilke'd Mexican GP track :/

If it has some elevation in it, it might be reasonable. But it'll probably be as flat as a coin.

Oh Christ, not another one. It just looks abysmal.
It's got to said that Tilke has a knack of creating the dullest, crappiest, most characterless corners and bits of curved straight and stringing them all together so they somehow all join up.

I was just thinking that - it's reminiscent of the 1990s Kyalami track layout. And we all know how good the racing was there... *sigh*

Ummm...any of us could do better.

Why hasn't the F1 world protested against Tilke's inability to create something new?

How many internationally qualified circuit architects do you think there are in the World? It's hardly a degree subject, is it?

There are probably not much, but it's not like Tilke is the only circuit designer in the world.

Whoever designed the Algarve would be definitely worth a go!

Even if the FIA had 2 different designers who could work together, it would be better. After designing so many tracks, it would be hard to come up with new and fresh ideas.

Btw, is that track clockwise or anti-clockwise?

It clockwise because the pit lane entry comes from the left.

It'll be another of those circuits were the drivers will say "They've done a great job and this circuit the best", but its just 2nd gear corners.

the more I watch this track, the less it says anything good to me. Turn1/2 seem taken from Singapore. Turn2/3 and last are pretty identical spurs. The top part is done by a double chicane complex which seems the reverse of the Piscine at Monaco. Then a weird imitation of the Spoon curve and another Z and a still slow turn that leads the imitation of the Sepang final turn + pit entrance.
When bad track designing meets lack of ideas...
