And there is the first picture of Timo's 2010 helmet . :) (http://www.virginracing.com/drivers/). The Virgin colors (Red and White) are dominant. Maybe these colors will appear on the car as well.

I think I might adopt Virgin Racing as my favourite team next year. :) I rate both Glock and Di Grassi highly, and have a lot of respect for Richard Branson and the Virgin brand. Not to mention they're based in Sheffield, which is about as far removed from the F1 scene as you can get!

Excellent news for Lotus. I would like to be the first to point out that Lotus have signed a likeable young Finnish driver in the hope that it will be the catalyst that his career needs. ...Remind you of anyone?

P.S.

By my reckoning, the 'top' drivers currently available to fill the remaining seats are as follows:-

Nick Heidfeld (former driver for BMW Sauber) - either Mercedes-Benz or Sauber seem his only options
Kameni Kobayashi - sp?? (stand-in Toyota driver last year) - I hope he gets a drive, Campos is a possibility
Giancarlo Fisichella * (Force India's hero, Ferrari's zero) - Subject to contractual agreements with Ferrari, could end up in a Sauber
Anthony Davidson (perenially overlooked ex-Honda midget) - Could he get a drive with Renault next season?

Of course, the arrival of wildcards such as Michael Schumacher and Jacques Villeneuve could throw all of this out of the window, but I'd be surprised if at least 3 of those 4 drivers weren't on the grid next year.

1x Mercedes-Benz
1x Renault F1
1x Campos Meta
2x USF1
2x Sauber

Seven seats still to fill. :)

JV is out the running now imo.

If Schumacher lands the Merc driver, I think Sauber will be Heidfeld and I hope Kobyashi.

Not thought about Ant at Renault, but id sure like to see him in a car!

lets just hope they dont do a 2009 they change the regs so less dirty air is produced then they allow the double diffuser which just negated all of that.

Not yet, apparently he is connected with the guy who is probably going to be announced as the new majority owner of Renault today.

The whole manufacturer situation has just hit home to me pretty hard. Ive only just realised that in 2010 there will only be 4 different types of engine even though there are 13 teams. Has that ever happened before?

1974 there was 20 different teams and 3 engine manufacturers. 18 of the teams ran Cosworth DFVs.

Similar story in 73, 75, 76, etc.

Oh yeah, a few times. In fact, F1 went through a period of several seasons in the late 60s/early 70s when virtually every car on the grid except the Ferraris was powered by the Ford DFV engine - and there were a similar number of teams by then to the number we have now.

Edit: Dave beat me to it :P

When Matra retired, only Ferrari and Cosworth DFVs were the only engines than ran most of the races, but there was a BRM running in one or 2 races. In 1976 Brabham equiped his cars with an Alfa Romeo V12. In 1977 was (dont remember in which race - think it was Italy) the last race that appeared a BRM (driven by Larry Perkins I think), in 1977 too, the Renault Gordini engine appeared in the British GP. Then when F1 came into the Turbo Era appeared several engines (BMW, Honda, still was Renault as engine supplier). From 1989 to 1999 we had more less 6, 7 different engines (ex. 1998 - Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Playlife, Mecachrome (bah, it was an 97 Renault I think), Playlife, Honda, Ford). And it was moreless like that until 2003

Patrick Head and Nick Wirth having a bit of an argument, haha.

";(Virgin are) very convinced that is the way forward, that you can do it all with CFD," Fernandes told Reuters last week. "I am from the aviation business, mate. You can't. You've got to have a wind tunnel."

Former Simtek owner and Benetton chief designer Wirth rebuffed any suggestion he could be heading for a fall, pointing to his successes in America with similarly-designed cars.

"Obviously Patrick's used to falling because he's fallen from winning," he said after a team presentation in London. "And obviously he's invested unwisely in two wind tunnels which are a bit archaic.

"I think we've done enough due diligence on this programme, both in developing in Indycars and sportscars. There's no doubt it works, no doubt the technology is right," added Wirth.

"I can tell you how fast our car will go around Barcelona. I won't, but I can. We know exactly where we are. What we don't know is where everyone else is going to be."

"We know exactly where we are. What we don't know is where everyone else is going to be."

And actually this means they dont have any idea if they are able to compete in F1 of should they try to apply to race in Finnish F3 series.. ;)

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

Schumacher Number 3 or Number 4?

Well, I doubt he'd go #2 to someone who hasn't won a race yet, so it'll almost be MS in the 3 car.

To be fair, Schumi must get number 4. Nico raced in 2009, MS didn't.

Also, this must be the first time he will have a number 4 on his car? Can't remember him having anything other than odd numbers on his vehicles.
