Mclaren approached him @ Interlagos for a seat in 2010. I wish he had gone there but he didn't, so it doesn't matter anymore.

Completely agree. I like Heidfeld, he is a very very consistent performer and if he has the car under him (which he will hopefully at McLaren) he can win races, and hopefully lots of them. It's like Rubens, everyone last year thought he was way past his prime, but he only needed a good car and WHAM! he's challenging to the championship right until the end. In a good car, Heidfeld can do the same.

2007, Heidlfeld firmly outscored Kubica
2008, Kubica firmly outscored Heidfeld
2009, 2 points in it, Heidfeld just wins.

He has tonnes more experience than Kubica in F1, but the only time he convincingly beat him was Kubicas rookie year. Why should I rate Heidfeld? And if I should rate Heidfeld, why shouldn't I rate Kubica?

I think Heidfeld lacks the ability to challenge a decent teammate. Kubica's had a poor year, and Heidfeld hasn't come across any stronger in my opinion.

He was beaten by Alesi - Alesi who spent much of the previous season on par with Diniz.

A rookie Kimi performed around the same as him Sauber, and had more standout performances. Massa was pretty awful. Frentzen effortlessly outperformed him.

At best he was the level of Webber, and many weren't, and still aren't fans of Webber (I a fan of him personally), and he was beaten by Vettel this year (though both had plenty of bad luck).

He's a solid driver, but when faced with a strong teammate, I just feel he's got much to answer with. Frankly, I get the impression Hamilton would piss all over him, not in a dissimilar way to Heikki, and I don't think anyone wants to see that.

well, IMHO Hedfeld deserves the seat more than Sutil, Grosjean, Nakajima and even Kubica

Kubica is wreckless, he's the driver with more front wing changes after the start of GP's, Kubica is fast but inconsistent, Nick always makes better races than him, for the latter part of the season BMW's car got better, but Nick was the one suffering problems during Qualys or taken out by Sutil and so..

Nick had his hopes of driving a competitive car destroyed when Mclaren choosed Kimi instead of him, i'm not justifying his suber days after Kimi left, but could that had something to do with it?

we all saw in 2007 that with a good car he's always there
Kimi's overpaid, it doesn't matter what he says or any Kimi fan says, he got sacked of Ferrari in style, he souldn't be asking for that much, his demands are quite absurd for someone who hasn't done anything since winning the championship and for a fraction of that salary, why not Heidfeld?

I think we can pretty safely assume that Toyota aren't going to be on the grid next year, and that would open the door for Qadbak Sauber to take up the 13th place on the grid. I'm still reckoning on a Raikkonen transfer if that team materialises, which I think it will.

Gav has outlined the reasons why I think Heidfeld is crap so there's not much point reiterating them. However this one line stuck out to me. Heidfeld had some lucky results in 2007 and 2008. All too often he'd be languishing around the ass end of the top 10 when a safety car or something would intervene and through no skill of his own, he'd be elevated up into a solid points position simply because he'd get lucky with the safety car.

Apparently Toyota have made it official now. Such as a shame for Kobayashi in particular.

I can't see a Raikkonen transfer to Qadbak-Sauber happening, he has publicly stated he only wants to go to a race-winning team.

I think it will be Heidfeld for them, and either Klien, Fisichella or Asmer as his team-mate.

Yes, he deserves another chance. If I had to choose one, I would choose him as well.

You're probably right about Kimi, but I wouldn't count out Sauber from making a race-winning car. BMW have been excellent in the past few races - way above expectations, and with the rules relatively static, they may be able to pick up where they left off.

Maybe so, but I think they will just lack the final 'edge' to get into the top teams (which I see being McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull, Brawn and possibly Renault) regularly. However, if they can keep the Petronas funding, and most of the BMW staff, they still could be a good chance, maybe battling with Williams.

The other problem for them is, would they have stopped developing the 2010 car, in wake of the uncertainty in regards to their entry?

They've continued developing the 2009 car, so I doubt it.

Yeah, I suppose.

Its interesting how some teams have decided to keep developing to the last race, while others have decided to go for a clean sheet and abandon 2009 (like Ferrari). Obviously time will tell which method pays off, especially considering BMW's massive failure by abandoning 2008, when they could have won a championship, and then still failing for most of 2009.

I guess each team works in a different way. McLaren said that continuing to develop this year's car would help a lot on next year's, since whatever solutions they found this year could be applied to the next, even if rules will change a bit. Ferrari I think just don't think the car had a good concept to begin with and are probably beginning again.

I think small teams prefer to work well late into the championship on the off chance that they can get the guys who stopped working earlier and score some points.

I don't think you can call it sacked when a certain sponsor pays many millions to get a certain Spanish driver in a red seat, it's no secret, Kimi even admitted it was due to Santander paying alot of money for Alonso, you think Ferrari would admit it do you? About the other things everyone can think what they want to :)

And it was impossible for Ferrari to throw Massa out instead of Kimi? In those times when Ferrari desided to fire Kimi it wasnt even sure if Massa will be able to race anymore. ;)

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

Kimi is jut saying stuff to save his dignity, he is being replaced by Fernando Alonso, simple as that, Ferrari kicked his ass out ot make move for Alonso

Alonso singed the contract with Ferrari in september last year, way before Sntander made the move to Ferrari, and the contract was to take place in 2011

Ferrari could've wait, but they decided to rush things

anyway what i'm saying is that Kimi is demanding stuff as if he was on his old Mclaren days, Kimi is a good driver, but with the way things went lately he just shouldn't be aksing for much, really
