Isnt it!!!

Its been a long time since ive become impatient inbetween race weekends!! And this will sound silly but what the hell, on Saturday's and Sundays instead of my usual waking up at say 12 then watching the race I find myself awake early unable to sleep because I cant wait for my favourite 2 hours of the weekend to come!!!

I will add, so I dont sound quite as sad as I appear there, the uni break is killing me with boredem with nothing useful to do!

edit - conclusion: i have no life lol

This season is only interesting if you are a fan of Brawn GP/Button/Barrichello. With the top players missing from the fight, I'm finding this season one of the most boring I've watched...latest races improved with Kimi and Hamilton fighting at the top.

Also known as a fan of the sport ;-)

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

Indeed thats why ive found it exciting, but not the only reason.

Turning on the tv every sunday to watch a Ferrari and Mclaren duke it out has got rather, boring and repetitve. It was strange, yet very nice to watch some white car with a washed up driver lapping the current world champion.

To say the least whoever was in the Brawns or RedBull it would be very refreshing to watch, beit Alonso, Lewis or Sato ;)!

Not forgetting Force India's vast improvment and Williams who have always been there or thereabouts. Its always good to see Williams near the top! At the same time I am quite the Lewis, Alonso and Nico fan, and for two of those its been a disapointing season but it happens. I think Nico's lack of win has also disapointed me because pre-season I had him as a dark-horse for the title.

As Button/Rubens fan I am loving this season, but as an F1 fan its the best ive watched since 2000 or 2003. On track and off-track action has been plentyful!

You say, "top players missing from the fight" that is something I would very strongly disagree with. Just because you consider them better drivers than the rest should not entitle them to have the best cars year on year. We assume they are the top players because they've had the top cars for much of their careers. A major misconception. Now it's someone elses turn ;-)! Neither Brawn or RBR drivers have shown to be anything less than top.

edit - As almost everyone keeps saying, "This is good for the sport" ;-)!

Its also been quite good for a Red Bull fan, i've enjoyed seeing Webber towards the front for most of the year for a change.

But anyway, the Lotus boss Tony Fernandes has a good attitude to F1: "After some of the things we've had to deal with at Air Asia – terrorism, Sars, bird flu – F1 has to be easy."

Lotus are on the hunt for an experienced driver or team principal.

It might be good for the sport...doesn't mean it'll be good for me anyway. It's only my opinion after all. And to be honest, I don't mind Brawn GP winning the championship at all. I think it's a good change of pace. But would I rather see a season with Kimi and Alonso fighting for the world title like in 2005? Without a doubt. And it's not just a case of being Ferrari and McLaren. I just think the fight this year isn't producing the kind of performances we got in 2005/06/07. Last year wasn't very good also.

I guess its down to opinion.

I thought the 05 season was perhaps one of the most all time boring seasons ive watched with only one decent race. It was nice to see Kimi battle with Alonso and Montoya but the races seemed long and boring. Aside from Suzuka I remember no race from 05!

In 2006 it was only Schumacher v's Alonso and the odd Massa win but was still a bore.

07 was made interesting because of Lewis v's Alonos. And of course the unusual amount of wet races we had. But it sure was a good season. Alot thought the retirement of Schumacher would be detrimental, but not to sound like a fanboy of Lewis but his entry into F1 was the bang F1 needed. I make it no lie I am fan of his so perhaps it could be a little biased, but I would put alot of the excitment in recent years down to his arrival and how it caused a stir. Not a great moment but I will never forget the Aus GP start. It paved the way for what he was to be known as... aggressive!

2008 was good but as exciting as 2007 im not so sure.

Saying all this, no questions asked I would rather sit and watch 98/99/00 over any recent seasons. Again I guess its a biased view because at the time I must confess my favourite drivers were Damon, Mika, and Ralf!!! Ralf arguably at his peak and laid to rest any thought of living in his brothers shadow.

Ralf was great in the 90s. Hit his peak and then went downhill even quicker. It was ashame. Mika was awesome. Driving, and PR wise. Damon...meh. Looking back, he was a very lucky journeyman and I lost all respect for him at Spa 98. :(

At the time I watched that race with no volume and the smallest tv in the world, so I didnt know the whole story (and being young!). What I saw was my hero winning the best id ever seen! Only recently did I realize what actually went on, and kudos to Ralf for acting quite good about it all! If you watch the podium/press conference again you can see he clearly isnt as happy as Damon and as happy as you'd expect after a 1-2! I understood the need to keep a 1-2, but a first win for a promising young driver was denied.

In 2001 he looked like he started to dip abit. I dont get why because Montoya was never that much quicker, was a fairly equal partnership! A great shame because he really is gone and forgotten!

Ralf´s accident in Indy 04 destroyed his career I think... After that crash, he never recovered to 100 per cent... a shame

What happened? All I can remember are the pile-up and the Coulthard-Schumacher thing...

He did it again a year later too!! Bad luck or what?!

True, big accidents usually make or break people imo.

Ralf was faster, but Eddie Jordan told him that he couldn't overtake Damon. I don't know if Damon asked Eddie to do so though.

It made sense at the time. There was absolutely no point in racing under those conditions when a team had a chance of a first 1-2. Had I been Eddie I would have made that call, regardless of who was leading. As it was, Hill put it to him over the radio. Tough on Ralf, because he was undeniably quicker, as his car was actually set up for a wet race, but he hadn't helped his cause with incidents with Fisi the year before.

If Damon hadn't spent his entire career bitching about team orders (before and after this incident) then I'd agree. But he showed his true colours that weekend. He is a hypocrite, who will throw out all his morals in order to come out on top. Bit like how he is ruining Silverstone at the moment.

I don't think Damon making a call on a radio, even if he did complain about it from previous teams, is really that bad. What was Jordan going to do? Have them race and possibly lose out on a 1-2? Or were they going to keep the pack.

Besides, that's nothing compared to the antics of Michael Schumacher, so you can't really slate Damon for making a suggestion on the radio when he never parked up on a corner in Monaco, or slammed into a title rival (twice).
