A lot of teams have had sponsorless cars on their shake down. Renault last year for instance and they have a lot of sponsors. In other words, you are criticising (sp?) the team without ANY grounds. As always. So please, think or just don't post. Thank you.

They are the only team this season that did their shakedown with sponsorless cars.

This season yes. And what does that mean? Looking at the past, it doesn't mean anything.

What does it matter?! Get over it.

If you hate them so much at least wait till Australia to bash them rather than picking out every detail and using against them!

They will be on the back row if they have Ross Brawn driving for them!

Not such an epic fail if they've just designed a car, built a car and bought engines, gearboxes, tyres, fuel and everything else for £0. I'd call that pretty damn legendary myself.

It's also impossible, but you know, never let common sense get in the way of one of your arguments.

Oi! What I mean is epic fail from a PR, marketing point of view.

What makes you think that they have sponsors today?

Didn't say they didn't have sponsors, but they have money from somewhere. You can't design, build, run a car and pay several hundred people without it.

Sponsors are being unveiled on the Thursday before Melbourne.
last years Honda car on its first test runs,

notice anything ?

[i31.tinypic.com]

renault ran an interim livery a few years ago.

There are plenty of opportunities over the next 12 months for sponsors to get good exposure(17 opportunities to be exact)

right now, putting stickers on the thing come a distant second to making sure it goes and stops.
Uh, Honda paid for all that stuff

Jesus christ, for God's sake I didnt say that they have, I said the opposite!

IF they had money from sponsors, they would have stickied them on it. But they dont, therefore they dont have sponsors, therefore if they really have money, its coming from somewhere else.

No sponsors = wont last more than 4 GPs.

That bs about other teams not having sponsors in their shakedowns dont go with me because a) Brawn GP isnt a factory team and b) last years Honda was sponsorless for the entire season. Or do you believe that Earthdreams was really giving them any penny?

Brawn GP 2009 is the Super Aguri 2008.

@gav: Honda paid it all for him, it wasnt Brawns money. He is not that rich. Even if they get a main sponsor, the car & team will still be crap.

From what I know, from what I have read, Honda is only giving them some support for 4 races only. From this point they are on their own.

I'm hoping that they will fail.

part of the money for keeping the team going this year comes from Honda(as its cheaper than paying up everyones contract and they don't end up having to do the firing)
part of it is comming from an advance from FOM (like Williams have had)

either thats enough(i'd be suprised if it was) or they clearly must have
other sponsors lined up as Mercedes seemed quite adament that they weren't interested in supplying a team that was going to stumble along at the back for 4 races then disappear.

I'd imagine they have them ready to go, but as the sale looks like it went through last night, they haven't been able to sign contracts with them yet. You don't announce stuff like that until the inks dry. i'd expect some announcements in the next 2 weeks.

possibly, but they could still be finalising deals with various sponsors.

also, going out with a blank livery could possibly (although unlikely in the current economic clmate) even attract sponsors who were looking for advertising space

I am questioning your ahem "reasoning" that it's an epic fail that they didn't put the stickers of the sponsors they don't have.

I think the priority would be to get the car running before sticking stickers on it.

Years ago the ferrari ran in black before being painted, why did they not put stickers on then?

Also mclaren in 1993 testing a lambo engine their car was white.

They have said they will anounce the finance stuff on Thursday.

Well said. And yes, Mercedes were very clear that no steady source of money = no engines.

You really dont understand, do you?

I'll put it simple:

If they have sponsors but didnt stickied them on car for one of the best moments for publicity = EPIC FAIL from a marketing point of view. If you want to solidify your sponsors, get more and more money from them, they should use every opportunity they can to show them off in their cars. A shakedown is one of the most publicized moments for a F1 team, now go and look around the sites how many sites have the brawn gp car pictured in? How many advertsing space wasnt used by that?

Factory teams, top teams dont have that worry, so its not a problem for them to run a blank livery. For a team without money, desperately looking for money to keep going on, its an epic fail.

If they dont have sponsors it explains why the car is fully white, thus validating my point ("They dont have sponsors!";).

Basically, I was questioning people that were defending them, people that believe they have sponsors.

I never said they have sponsors. Why would I want a goddamn crappy team directed by a bad character to have sponsors? I was saying the opposite, that THEY DONT have sponsors.

Got it now?

An F1 team wouldn't necessarily put sponsors' logos on a testing car. I don't think Williams have in the past? Brawn GP is new so they'll take some time to get some sponsors.
