apparently the sponsor will not be revealed until the Thursday before the Australian GP - however the colour scheme will remain largely the same

It's an insurance policy. They're not pushing hard at all, so the extra heat generated is welcome. On slicks you'd not generate enough heat to have any grip in an initial shakedown. If those first few shakedowns go well and they keep upping the pace they'll probably put slicks on.

It's an insurance policy. They're not pushing hard at all, so the extra heat generated is welcome. On slicks you'd not generate enough heat to have any grip in an initial shakedown. If those first few shakedowns go well and they keep upping the pace they'll probably put slicks on.
