The user EC83 compared Sennas title achievements in F1
against Magnussen. Its not a fair comparison considering
the machines each were driving.

My comparison is perfectly fair. Think about it. The 1984 Toleman was no more competitive than the 1997 and '98 Stewarts, in fact if anything it was slightly less competitive. Yet in '84 Senna scored 13 points, including three podium positions, one of which could easily have been a win had the race not been suddenly stopped.

Compare Magnussen's '97 season. In a car at least as good as the '84 Toleman, he... achieved nothing. It might have been a different era, but the '97 season was the most open and competitive for many years. (As an amusing aside, in the wet '97 Monaco GP Rubens finished 2nd, replicating Senna's '84 result, showing what was possible in a Stewart, while Magnussen could only manage 7th, nearly two laps down.)

It's not as if Magnussen never got a chance to prove himself in F1. The Stewart team gave him every opportunity, and kept faith long after any other team would've given up on him. But in the end even Stewart had to let him go. The fact that Jos Verstappen took over his drive at short notice and immediately did a better job should speak volumes too.

I'm not talking about what Senna was capable of when he was in a McLaren. I'm talking about what Senna was capable of, period. Even in an uncompetitive car, he was in a different league from Magnussen, end of story.
The bottom line is:

Ayrton Senna = great champion
Jan Magnussen = waste of an F1 drive.

The "funny comparison" here is your comparison between an out-of-his-depth midfield driver and one of the true greats of the sport.

Your must be kidding. Look at the 97 season alone.
The majority of the races that Magnussen and
Barrichello drove that year ended in retirements !!!.
And Barrichello was very lucky in Monaco due to retirements and the
2 hour limit time. The Rest of the season Magnussen did better than
barrichello, just look at the results in place finishes and thats says
it all. I find it very odd your comments.
You have your opinion i have mine. I will not change mine opinion even
of what ever you say :)

Fair enough, agree to disagree. As you say we both have our opinions, each is equally valid :)
