Second race at the re-designed Fuji circuit

4.563 km (2.835 mi)@ 67 laps

Fastest lap last year was a 1:28.193 by Lewis Hamilton.

Hamilton leads Massa by 7 points going into the last 3 grand prix.

There is a chance of rain on Saturday, not so likely on Sunday.

This weekend Bridgestone are rolling out their 'green' tyres which look terrible:

Unfortunately though, Lewis has not much chance of being 17 points clear at the end of this weekend as Ferrari have withdrawn their automatic pit system. (I wonder why? ;))

This better be a good grand prix as I am waking up at 5 am to watch it and it had better end before 7.15am so I can get to work on time. ;)

Enjoy!!

If it doesn't rain, I wouldn't count on it being a good GP. This track is piss poor compared to Suzuka...can't see all the hype TBH.

Anyway, Hamilton FTW. We can't have Massa winning this championship...of course, if Massa goes badly, then Kimi FTW ;)

this track will still be a bit of an unknown quantity in the dry, so hopefully it is an interesting race!

Wtf is everyone talking about ferrari or mclarendrivers? Last two races there was only on Mclarendriver on the podium each race, and no ferrari. And about the winner, after STR and Renault, I guess it should be RBR now, a combination between two winning teams ;)

So DC FTW!

i'll be getting up for the race. probably sky+ the qualifying.

current weather forecast.

friday - partly cloudy
saturday - showers
sunday - partly cloudy

so maybe a wet qualifying and a dry race? that should spice things up a bit.

given the monsoon of last year, it makes predictions a little harder, as SchueyFan said a dry race here is a step into the unknown.

I'm wondering if Ferrari's apparent power advantage will give them the edge in the dry thanks to the long start finish straight?

i fancy massa for the win, partly because it looks like a dry race and i think the ferrari will favour the dry and partly because he has to win if he wants to stand any chance of taking the title.

but unless he suffers reliability issues or some other bad luck, i don't see lewis finishing outside the top 3, so the championship situation won't change too much.

Eddie Irvine gives is opinion on the Fuji circuit,(i cant quite make my mind up if he likes it or not :-) )

"To me, Fuji is a crap circuit.

It's a horrible, boring place in the middle of nowhere. The weather is usually horrible and it's just the worst possible place to have a Grand Prix.

"You have to say that Fuji does not add to Formula One."

I will be up to watch at 5am to watch this, hoping for a good race, but with no rain and with it not being Suzuka i have my doubts.

I really fear Ferrari running away with this one, Vettel could be a threat too with the Ferrari engine in there. Hamilton needs a good drive to keep up the pressure on Massa, but with Heikki not backing him up at the minute cant see it happen.

Please dont let Massa win the championship >.<

This is on at that damn awkward time for me, where its slightly too late to stay up and watch, but way to early to justify going to bed and getting up for :\

Still not sure what to make of this track, i always enjoyed driving it on various racing sims, but i have no idea what sort of race it will produce in the dry. I'm hoping for a Lewis Voctory and a Ferrari-Fail.

Championship Scenarios (*tks sasjag*)

Hamilton with three second places, his rival wins three: 108x107, Hammy champion

Hamilton with three third places, his rival with three wins: 102x107, his rival wins

Raikkonen wins three, goes to 87, his teammate goes to 101 with three second places, and Hammy to 102 with three third places: Hammy champion

Raikkonen wins three, goes to 87, his teammate with three third places up to 99, and Hammy to 107 with three second places: Lewis champion

Hamilton wins three, his rival gets three second places: Hammy champion with 114, 13 points more than his rival

apparently suzuka is considering a night race. although i don't think this is a good idea, this might keep F1 away from Fuji at least

Nightraces are good now because they are special. The whole glamour part of a night race vaporizes when we have four or five of them per year, like Bernie wants.
