Even the bigger picture looks good for me too. Hes a rookie, in his first year, in a crap car, learning the stuff and improving. He has every right to do mistakes now - better now than at the end of his career like DC - and Piquet has been doing well, more than what I had expected. Piquet Snr had a first year worse than him, yet he only started to win races in his third season.

Either way, Heikki didn't go off at every race of the season and get DNFs or no points scored.

If you look at the stats,

Heikki scored in every race except for 6 races from the whole season. Now if you look up until Monza last year, he had not scored points for 4 races.

Compare that to Nelson, he's either not scored or gone off at races 11 times until Monza. That is the reason why everyone is bashing Piquet

What a pity Piquet Jnr will never get to a thrid season.

How come we always end up talking about Piquet? It's the championship of F1 FFS, not the championship of talking about Piquet :P

You seem to forget that in 2006 there was much more testing than in 2007. Less track time for Piquet.

He wont get even 2nd season without some big miracle.. I wud say there is no any posibility for him, but I know how strong and rich support team he have and I know behind the scenes super aguri is not 100% dead. ;)

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

Hamilton drove too cars off the road today, glock at high speed, and webber. And he was pretty rude overtaking alonso, could have made contact there. I think fame is getting to his head, i can see he will probably get another penalty before season end and lose the championship because of these dirty moves.

As Brundle said; he really is pushing his luck with the stewards

Yup. Hamilton was overdoing it today, with the worst example being with Glock.

Worst example was Webber. Glock was just lack of respect and another showing of that ego ("no-one can out-accelerate the rain-meister MKIII. He must have spun coming out of the chicane. Bye, bye Timo. Wait. WTF. Oooh, sir! You do have big balls!";).

yes, i was not impressed with hamilton either. there is a chance he didn't know glock was there, but with webber it was blatantly stupid. cutting in front of alonso was pretty dangerous as well in the conditions. lol at vettel's reference to 'balls' as well,

anyway, superb drive for Vettel - one of the greatest moments in recent F1 history for me. no-one can complain with this result, and especially those who remember the minardi days. he is a star of the future no matter what, and if its true that BMW still have an option on him, they should be looking at him very seriously for 2010.

F1 really needed something like this to rejuvenate the sport after the bitter end to last week, and they got it.

btw, as IWE mentioned, it was good to hear the German and Italian anthems together again ;)

I know some people are unhappy about Lewi's overtaking manouvres, but he's an exciting driver to watch, and one reason why I'm enjoying '08 more than '07. Maybe it's just that its raining seemingly everywhere, but I can't wait for the next race.

yes maybe, but - to me at least - some of those moves were a bit closer to dangerous than exciting.

btw, kimi is still not playing the team game, publicly at least

Q. Are you going to help Felipe Massa?

KR: I don't know. We will see what happens.

and he sums up his thoughts on the race in a few short words

Q. Are you satisfied with your race?

Kimi Raikkonen: Do you think I am?

Agree. I don't understand this guy. Quite dangerous today.

Kimi is going someway about his team play game. He clearly knows he's out of the title hunt so i don't know why he's still wagging his tail and being unhappy about it. Is it me or does anyone else also think that Kimi yielded to Hamilton a bit to quickly on hamilton's final attempt to pass him.

Anyone remember 2007? :P I thought it would have been even more impossible for him to win last season, when he was 16 points behind 2 races to go. At least I didn't believe in Kimis changes at all back then, but look what happened.

Great race. Really pleased to see Vettel win, and breathes some life back into F1 after last weeks farce.

As for the championship, I haven't yet seen it mentioned that Kubica has put himself back into the running and is only 14 points behind. One slip up from both Massa and Hamilton will see him right back in contention.

Hamilton's speed was breath-taking in the middle part of the race, and his overtaking moves were entertaining to say the least. Nice to see some aggression.

I didn't say that.... I said his defensive move on Webber was... well ill-advised. But the one on Glock was just his head getting in the way, like he assumed there was no way someone could out-accelerate him. I don't know. Perhaps his head was blocking the mirrors? ;)

Not trying to put a negative spin on it. It was fun watching him come through today. You do just wonder if today, some of the bitterness was left from last weekend, like because he'd seen the response from the British media, and he thought the stewards would have had to have had balls of steel to dare penalise him again.

He's playing a dangerous game. He's got the faster car. He's the one who needs to play the percentage game. If he's not bothered about the title, and just wants to try to win every race, that's fair enough (I admire that attitude as much as a championship season effort), but come out and say it. If he does care about the WDC, then he needs to let his head get back in control, because he keeps creeping over the line. He's threatening to let it slip from his grasp once more.
