I believe so, I remember reading somewhere most of the drivers played F1'05 or whatever version it was then to learn the new Turkey track for 2005. Same with NASCAR, sometimes inexperienced drivers use games to learn tracks and racing technique.

As for purely fun gaming, i have no idea - lol

Sean Edwards (FIA GT Saleen, Porscher Supercup driver) drives rFactor and GTR2. Dario Franchitti (IRL/Indy 500 champion, NASCAR Driver) drives rFactor and GT Legends. Tom Milner (ALMS) drives rFactor and GTR2. AJ Allmendinger (CCWS, NASCAR) drives rFactor, Justin Wilson (Indy Car) drives rFactor. Oriol Servia (Indy Car) drives rFactor. Denny Hamlin (NASCAR) drives NR2003 (and learnt how to Road Race and drive Pocono on it), Martin Truex Jr (NASCAR) drives NR2003, Dale Earnhardt Jr famously drove NR2003 and now runs an rFactor league.

I think some play LFS as well, but I'd need an LFS fan to post who does it as I'm not part of that community.

As for F1 drivers specificly, Villeneuve played Grand Prix 2, and others have said they have used it for basic track learning. But there hasn't been a good F1 game/sim for years, so I wouldn't expect them to play it as much as NR2003/rFactor.

I think also some teams have their own simulators too like mclaren. I remember Hamilton saying he uses it probably b.c it actualy emulates the g-forces etc too.

yes, i think most f1 teams have their own simulators now, i know that mclaren and williams do, and i'm sure many others do as well

Ah well... I thought it was OK to include PR events too, they had to practice not to be embarrassed if they had a poor performance in a PR event right? ;)

I can say that in their spare time, Piquet Jr plays GP4 - its even listed in his official website - and Bruno Senna apparently has GP4 and/or rFactor.

Happy to see some real driver play racing games. I think they only play racing games not other games.

Didn't stop Sebastian Bourdais and Mario Dominguez rocking up at Long Beach and crashing on the out laps of the CCWS/rFactor sim. :)

It's obviously Sutil... he overtook in the second race from 21st to the lead and finished up 20 seconds in front. No non-racer could do that unless they're really special.

I remember Hamilton saying he played (or plays) the PS3 game with his brother in one of the 1000 interviews ITV do with him. Such amazing information those interviews give, and all worth knowing!

Why not? I did something similar when racing with AJ Allemdinger online.

Dot Dot flipping dot.

No wonder he's poor.
I read that Jacques Villeneuve used to play GP2 to learn the F1 tracks!
