McLaren MP4-23

looks quite nice. Very similar to mp4/22, maybe an easier job for the gp4 mod crew then

It's to hold the car in one piece

mclaren do know how to make a good car looking car. looks so much cleaner than the ferrari.

Actually, no. Lewis has asked the team to race with number 23, and McLaren accepted, so Heikki will be number 22.

Hamilton's car will bare the number '23' in this year's Championship, however, team boss Ron Dennis insists the team didn't set out to achieve that coincidence.

"It is Lewis' birthday today, we've gone to a lot of trouble... He is 23, it is the MP4-23 and he will carry (number) 23 on the car, but that is more by accident than judgement I must say," he said.

i thought the driver with the higher points score had to have the lowest number? that is what's occured in every single team for the last few years at least...

No, normally the #1 driver would get the lowest, but there are times when thats not the case. Like in 2006 at Honda, RB wanted the #11 so JB let him. Just like you, drivers prefer other numbers to some

edit - and Nick, np. It says it was on at Malaysia but was quite hard to notice on last years car, this year it looks alot more prominant.

the team are given their 2 numbers for the season, it's up to them (and possibly the drivers) to choose which driver gets which number, as Chet said witht he Honda example. also i remember when Ralf and JPM were at Williams, they asked JP Mwhich number he wanted (3 or 4), so he chose 3.

car looks good. they probably removed the bridge nosewing as it's not necessarily important for the launch, they can add a frontwing with bridge-nose-wing again at races where they need it.

The cockpit sides look a lot neater on the mclaren than the ferrari, the ferrari ones tend to remind me of 1996 I think it was.

Best things about the MP4/23 are the higher nosecone and the drivers' numbers, imo.

It's interesting to see they're keeping the very similar car design as they've had for the past two years. Obviously the cars will look very different in Australia but its interetsing to see how very different the McLaren and Ferrari are, it seems Macca have gone for a more traditional chassis with not too many winglets whilst the Ferrari has got a lot of additions to the front wing and sidepods
