The wall which separates the pitlane from the track itself is now shorter.

@fincent, it really is from this year. It has to be rubenses costume that got you confused, in fact honda didn't alter their costumes as drasticly as they did with car livery. But it is understandable since there were wery few occasions this year that we could really see what honda costume looks like.

Hehe, i think there were enough occasions, seeing another dissapointed Honda driver step out of his broken car ;)

so, quick recap of the permuations,

Hamiltons is 4 points clear of Alonso and 7 ahead of Kimi.

Hamilton and Alonso have both currently won 4 races whilst Kimi has won 5.

so.

if Alonso wins and hamilton finishes 3rd or lower, then Alonso takes the title (level points gives it to alonso on having won more races).

however, if alonso doesnt win, hamilton only needs to finish 5th. as if alonso manages 2nd then they would be level on points and race wins, but hamilton has had more 2nd places. and 5th place would ensure that kimi gained at most 6 points on him.

Kimi needs to finish 1st or 2nd to stand any chance at all.

if he wins, hamilton has to finish 6th or lower with alonso finishing 3rd or lower for Kimi to take the title.

if he finishes 2nd, hamilton has to finish 8th or lower with alonso finishing 4th or lower.

(any scenario that puts kimi level with hamilton or alonso, kimi comes out on top having won more races)

i think that covers it?

so on the face of it, a strong ferrari performance suits lewis rather nicely.

i must admit i like the scenario where it comes down to number of 2nd places, it makes prost and laudas tiny 1/2 point gap look like a chasm.

either way I sense one of the tensest races for a while comming up!

Alonso will take Hamilton out, so Raikkonen will be the champ. It will be his revenge, becuse he cannot win the title it this circumstances (having his own team against him), besides that would pleasure Flavio for sure. And di Montezemolo as well, and Alonso still has possibility to drive for Ferrari some time in the future. Who knows what is going on behind the closed doors, and how much money is circulating under the tables.

A lot of people say that, expecially the part that, if the Macca's are "gone" Raikkonen is champion anyway. But he has to finish second at least! And of course that should be no problem without the macca's and only massa with an equal fast car, but he has to do it anyway. And two races ago we have seen even an email can have it's influence ;)
And BMW is not far behind, neither is Renault.

Alonso will use same engine that he used already at China...unlike Hamilton,Raikkonen and Massa who all will get new engines that need to last only about 500 km instead of 1000 km .Alonso can't use the full power of his engine all the race so he will lose about 5-10 bhb's to Lewis.

engine is very important in Brazil ,I think Alonso won't have the package that is needed for win...of course if it will rain then it doesn't matter :)

I dont think thats true anymore is it? Isn't there that rule in place now to severely restrict engine development through-out the year? So you can't just rock up to Brazil with a grenade in the back that'll only last for 400-500km...

Do you seriously believe that? If the team were against him, they'd have sacked him by now - god knows they have enough reasons to do so...

True, but if you're on a second race with an engine which has already covered 500k, you can't use all the revs right?

They go to 19,000 on full boost, but only about 18400 or something like that with little or no boost. In order for Alonso to last, he can't afford to run at 18800, or 18900 for most of the race, which the others can as there is no need for the engines to last longer than this race.

Hope that makes some sense.

Hold on, those engines last year were running at about 20000 rpm at full chat. What gives?!

Enforced rev limit to try and reduce engine blow ups after the homologation rule that came in this year too.
