you can still develop the engine but not as much as you used to but still some small improvements can be done and Ferrari will bring new engine to interlagos that is build to last only 1 gp so they can use more revs all race.

The engine should be capable of lasting at full revs if needs be. If it does develop a problem he may well end up in the position of not having an option but to drive it flat out and cross his fingers. Finishing behind Hamilton is just about as useless as blowing up. He won't care whether he's 2nd or 3rd in the title race if he doesn't win.

Yeah I guess but Alonso isn't the smoothest of drivers to be fair is he? He may run it on full wack as long as possible and just one dodgy downshift could end his race. It depends on how much stress he put on the engine at Shanghai though, if he took it easy on it most of the race (most likely I guess considering the conditions) then he may well just rev the bejeezers out of it and hope it goes the distance.

It seems that the engines can run at or near 19k pretty much all race for two races with no problems these days. Plus it looked like Fernando took the end of the Chinese race quite easy as he knew Lewis was out and catching and passing Kimi was very unlikely. Also you can't damage the engines with the paddle shifting and rev limit now.

Gav pretty much nailed it.

If Alonso is in a posistion where Lewis is in front Alonso will have to drive flat out, no question.

The engines are designed to run at 19K for two races... Not run at 19K for one race then take it easy for the next race.

yea its been said many a time, with all the complex electronics its virtually impossible for a driver to over rev an engine or mess up a down change.

yep, no such thing as "one dodgy downshift" to end his race. if the driver attempts to downshift at the wrong revs, the computer will simply not allow it to happen.

I cud again repeat what Honda have said about Sato (and some other makers about some other drivers)..

Maybe not "over-revs" (but even small rising of rpm limit already brings more risk). And maybe changing gear on wrong rpm level is not possible but there is still 1000 and 1 other things.

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

Yup. Dunno about the rev limit in place to prevent blow-ups, it was introduced to stop the money being spent on development. I think the teams run to about 18500 normally because they don't want to go over the 19000 limit when slipstreaming another car.

Anyway, I'm backing Hamilton for the championship, but if he can't win it then I'd like Raikkonen to, even though I hate Ferrari. Alonso can jump off a cliff for all I care.

And yet he remains in your sig ;)

tbh I dont think niether Mclaren driver deserves the title, both have acted childish.... But then again I dont think Ferrari deserve either championship too, because they are dumb, though for Kimi to win would be awesome.

If I had to choose, I would say I would prefer it if Alonso won this season, after all thats happened and ofr him to say he is WDC, that would be a HUGE achievment.

Yeah, its an old sig but to replace it means lowering the resolution of my other ones ;)

What do you mean after all thats happened to Alonso? Surely any issues he's had has been brought on by himself.

the 19K rev limit means it simply won't go over 19K, slipstreaming or not. you're right that they probably keep a little bit of margin to account for increased revs during slipstreaming, but it still won't go over the limit, they'll just be stuck at 19K.

Weather report from Formula1.com:

Against expectations there was no serious rain on Thursday, but that is due all day on Friday, with an ambient temperature high of 24 degrees Celsius. That will improve to dry conditions and 27 degrees on Saturday, but now there are expectations of thunderstorms on Sunday, when the temperature will rise further to 31 degrees.

Thunderstorms Sunday? Excellent! :)

Can anybody more local provide a more accurate one? I know Brazil's climate is about as changeable as the British climate, but 2 or 3 day forecasts can't be that inaccurate locally, can they?!
