Midland F1 Racing MD Colin Kolles claims the all-new M16 car, which was unveiled on Friday at Silverstone, is proof of the team's "serious intentions" in Formula 1
Midland, the first team to enter grand prix racing with a Russian racing license, bought Jordan at the beginning of 2005 and has spent much of this winter working on its V8-Toyota powered new chassis and restructuring the team and headquarters.
"It has been an exciting, sometimes bumpy ride since we accelerated our plans and became involved in F1 a year earlier than expected," said Kolles.
"But through all the ups and downs, we maintained a clear vision of where want to be and, step by step, we are getting there.
"But even though we have invested a great deal into building a brand-new car, we remain realistic about the challenge we face as a private team against the world's top motor manufacturers."
Technical director James Key believes that M16 is a significant improvement over the team's previous car
