Have you seen this?

Hi all,

I once had an MPEG of David Coulthard in his McLaren F1 chasing down a Mercedes Touring Car and a stock standard Mercedes road car at Silverstone. The video was of a staggered start with DC giving the road car about a half a lap head start and the touring car about a third of a lap jump on him. DC went last and I guess I don't need to tell you who crossed the finish line first! It was comentated by the one and only Mr Murray Walker.

The problem is I've lost the disc I had it burnt to.

Has anyone ever seen this or know where I can download it from again??

Cheers guys.

These are done all the time. Theres a Ford one with Clarkson in a Cougar, McRae in a WRC focus and Herbert in a Stewart Ford

I remember it well, DC was reading the paper while car 1 went :D

Dunno where to get it from though.

The Coulthard one is from 97 since thecar car slicks on it.

I remember that they had to do the Ford one Dave mentioned a couple of times to get it right since they kept screwing up the timing. ;)

Ayrton senna did one when he was a Mclaren driver, against a 911 to show how fast an F1 car could catch up a porsche despite a head start.

Ferrari did something similar, Schumacher against a Tornado Fighter Jet. The Ferrari won the short distance sprints, rather surprisingly.

well that was just a full-on drag race with different distances, which had been done before with Gilles Villeneuve Vs a Russian fighter plane, and someone else in the 30's too (apologies for forgetting the drivers name, no doubt someone will provide the info).

these ones are more about pitting race cars against road cars on a circuit.

Villeneuve must have got hammered, fighter planes haven't advanced a whole lot since just after Vietnam. :o

This sort of thing has been run at the Australian GP quite a few times over the past few years. They usually have done it 2 times a day on the Thurs to Saturday, then once on the Sunday. It is amazing to watch it all unfold before your eyes!
