Are those seats safe with that huge head protection? Does it allow the pilot to look around him?

That's why they use "spotters" on the top of grandstands, those guys talk with drivers and give info about cars on front, sides and back, and for the drivers just the rear mirror in the car...

"That left shoulder strap, does it say Williams?"

It's Willians, who make seat belts for racing series.

Well If I were a driver I´d keep my neckmuscles in shape and wont put Grandpa´s TV chair into the car

Theres only so much the neck can take...

And again im unsure about this but isnt the top G for Nascar (obv track dependant) about 2 - 2.5 ?

Yeah. You tell that to all the F1 drivers in Interlagos. They're all really out of shape.

@Chet: regardless of the actual force, it's pretty much unrelenting on most tracks. On super-speedways, they get a bit of a break along the comparatively long straights, but when they do get any lateral G, it's always the same. You're right though, it's not much G, it's just constant.

Mansell was never the fittest driver in the world, but when he made the move to Indycars, he was absolutely shattered after each and every oval race. I don't mean a bit warm and panting a bit - he was at the level Piquet was at when he collapsed in Rio in 1982.

Or after he won his first WDC in Las Vegas and threw up in his helmet after he crossed the line!
Nige was not the fittest driver when it came to stamina but he was probably one of the strongest drivers and his neck muscles were like that of a heavy weight boxer.

Montoya To Debut In Food World 250 ARCA RE/MAX Series Race

Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) announced today Juan Pablo Montoya will drive the No. 4 Texaco/Havoline Dodge in the ARCA/REMAX Series event on Friday, October 6 at Talladega Superspeedway. Montoya and the CGRFS team tested at Talladega earlier this week in preparation for the ARCA event, as well as his first start in a stock car.

In July CGRFS announced that Montoya would be piloting the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge Charger in 2007. The 31-year-old Colombia, South America native will become the first Formula One driver in the 58-year history of NASCAR to compete on the circuit full time. He returns to the CGRFS organization with 137 starts competing in CART, IndyCar and Formula One, where he’s tallied 18 wins, 26 poles, 60 top-five and 79 top-10 finishes. Over his five complete seasons in Formula One, Montoya has finished sixth or better in the standings.

Montoya previously worked with team owner Chip Ganassi in the CART Series in 1999 and 2000. He captured the CART Championship and Rookie of the Year honors in 1999 while visiting Victory Lane 11 times in those two years, including a win at the prestigious Indianapolis 500 in 2000.

The Food World 250 is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. (CST) and will be broadcast at 8 p.m. on Speed Channel.

ARCA isn't NASCAR. It isn't even Busch series. That JPM would have to start there is the equivalent of a F1 driver dropping down to race F3 or Formula Nippon.

Quite a steep drop for JPM I would say.....

True, but NASCAR isn't like anything Monty's done, CART included. Driving Talladega in a Nextel Cup car for your first race? I'd be bloody petrified.
