Support for Window 7 ends in Jan 2020. I might need to get good at adapting all my GP3 files and editors for Win 10 over the next year. Not looking forward to that .... :-(
I suspect that logo generator will not work. Problems for GP3 Edit too perhaps, never mind getting the game itself to run properly.

I have just reinstalled GP3 after a 4-year hiatus. I'm currently using Windows 10.
Car Editor works fine.
GP3 Edit works fine (I'm using a Windows 7 friendly version, though).
GPxPatch works fine.
JamEditor works fine.
GP3 Cockpit Editor works fine.

So it's not that bad after all. Most of the editors work flawlessly.

Well that is encouraging! How about logo editor and Art Tool?
Thanks for the info.

No idea about Art Tool but I've just opened Teamlogo Editor and it opened fine :)

What about FPS in game?

I play GP3 directly via Windows 10 and FPS in HW mode is terrible. However, FPS in SW mode is just as it always has been - totally playable.

That's an interesting observation. Will try running it in SW mode then.

Kimi forever!
I haven't played GP3 since I got a new computer (a very budget one) because it never worked correctly under Windows 10 with my old one. Today I decided to give GP3 2000 a chance and it was bad at first, it would only work in Software mode and the menus got that weird color bug.

My computer has integrated graphics (ryzen 3 2200g) so I didn't expect this guide to work but for my surprise after trying it things are very promising. I still need to test custom tracks but on original tracks, I get 80%/90% PO on hardware mode with 1024x768 resolution at 25.6fps on normal racing conditions. During race starts it goes up to 140%/180% depending on the track, and during practice it goes really low. All very good compared to the 400% or more I got with the old system. It also got rid of the menu color bug. I'm gonna try GP3 later this week and hopefully, it will go as well.

Some useful guidance on DgVooDoo and DxWnd.

I recently tried both with GP3, and there are many differences, in terms of
performance and how it works.
DgVooDoo emulates a videocard "virtual" with the settings you are passing
by the config program. That means all job is wrapped above your phisical
GPU and CPU and it does really bad performance (starting race over 200%-300%)
cause it uses software ways to creates all environment and putting DirectX calls in it.
The most its advantage seems the correct beheaviour emulated in base of which
card model is selected.
DxWnd has got a very rich options set (for correct skys colour in GP3,
use the option "Set Texture Pixel Format" - if needed ).
It seems use the DirectX APIs directly on your phisical GPU.
When you check the GPU name, in the game, it appears effectively as its name.
That gives the incredible advantage in performance way
(start race at 60%-80%, 20-60% average). Cause it's like a passthrough your
operative system installed DirectX and uses the its DirectX (emulating old versions,
GP3 need Dx 7) .
However, if your GPU has native render defects in GP3 (for example, some Intel Graphics
doesn't not render properly tyres and black polygons) ,
this defects will show.
So, it means to try DxWnd, but it doesn't guarantee it works fine with your GPU.
Hey pippozzo, is there any way to use GP3 with DxWnd while starting it with GPxPatch?

I tried it without GPxPatch and it indeed runs a bit faster and a lot smoother than with dgVooDoo, but I wasn't able to run it with GPxPatch.

HAVE A LOOK HERE.
THESE SHOTS ARE THE SETUP OF DXWND I HAVE GOT WITH MY GP3++ .
The game (mod98, as GP3 default) is started by GpxPatch and you can see the CPU Occ I shotted, in several images,
At monaco, without mirror details, at wet silverstone with mirror detailed.
Mind, my GP3++ has a bit rcr larger distance, so in a standard GP3 installation you can also have much better performance.

[drive.google.com]
Thanks! It worked very well. I think it wasn't launching because I was missing the "folder" setting.

Please sticky this thread.

Hi guys,
as someone knows , GP3Video was the program to make GP3 1.13 having a long replay - up 2 hours entire race - like GP3 2000 season or GP4 (the normal GP3 has got just last 20 seconds replay).
So, GP3Video creates a copy of GP3.exe file alled GP3V.exe , and launching GPxPatch on this executable you have the long replay.
BUT Someone could find a big problem when there is a driver selected (there is a player, not director only) in wheather/track changeble conditions. This was generated by wrong calculations of physics and grip conditions changes while race, causing a random behavior of your car (just your car) during the replay, showing completely different realty - often you will crash in some wall in the replay.

I found why and how can you solve it.
The problem seems happening just in systems 64 bit, since Windows Vista forward (win 7, win 8, win 10 ... ) and windows xp with service pack 3.
To solve it, just mind to put GP3V.exe file with compatibility mode in "WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 2" .
Since every windows OS since 2006 had the version 64 bit (that s why xp service pack 3 is included), compatibility mode in a system 64 bit will work with 64 bit version of those retro` library.
But GP3Video was a really ancien program (16bit, cause derivated by GP2Video too, in fact launched by DosBox), and it make GP3.exe working good with 32 bit version of library but not good for 64 bit version (memory addresses managed differently ).
Finally.
Just put GP3V.exe in compatibility mode Wxp SERVICE PACK 2 .

I have a 4GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050. How much FPS can I expect to get using dgvoodoo?

With NVida you have I really suggest to use DxWnd , cosy I have NVida card gt 610 and acheive 25 fps in 1024 resolution for almost all part of gaming.
IndgVoodoo will ave to use the your CPU through, actually, instead the graphic card, and that performance will be very bad especially with many cars at start, considering in SGVoodoo mode my GP3++ will have (by default export mod to the game) 640 resolution. Try DnXwnd, if you experience any problem so retry with dgvoodoo. (in I3 4th gen 4Gb Ram it has 15-16 fps in middle grid start, 20 fps over the race, average).

Well, I was trying the 2019 melbourne circuit as available in the 2019 thread and the dat file is more than 137 kb, so I set track length to 10 km in gpxpatch and tried to run it without using debug mode, the game crashed right after selecting the track.

so, I think it's about that. many tracks don't work when it started without debug mode. Q. Why you need remove the check on debug mode flag?
