GPGSL Season 6 Complete!

Posted by GPGSL
Crap, hoped on a top 10 for Dean but as always our mechanics cant prepare a car for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th runs while there should be more grip.

(I'm pretty close on evidence saying Paolo bribes them)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"If in doubt, Flat out."
What a waste of boost.

Points finish again but another case of what might have been. Strong start but could not improve on that. Bring on Silverstone!
Solid qualy result, lets hope we can finish with both cars in the points :)

Pole position :D It's the race where it counts though

Well that was crap. Hopefully we get lucky in the race again.

GPGTV.org welcomes you all to a beautiful, warm and sunny Interlagos for todays 48 lap event.
We trust you all have had a safe time in Sao Paolo, and not managed to get mugged on the way to the circuit....

Weather for todays' race looks perfect. No stressing over the weather here in Brazil...

Pole sitter John Warrington stares down the front straight, nothing in front of him...

Tafuro GP's Gianluigi Silvestre sits 2nd on the grid...

Rodrigo Vilela sits proudly in 3rd for his home country's GP...

Champion elect, Ed Greenhalgh sits in 4th on the grid...

Liohts are out, and the field roars towards Turn 1...

Through turn 1 and turn 2, Warrington clearly leads, and Vilela is all over the back of Silvestre...

Vilela is on the inside for the next corner. He will surely make the pass...

Looks like the entire field has navigated the first few corners safely...

AMR's John Warrington has held onto the lead through the first stages of the opening lap...

And the view from the rear of the lead car, shows he is fairly comfortably in front, with Rodrigo Vilela in second...

Gianluigi Silvestre sits in 3rd, with Ed Greenhalgh right on his tail....

The field runs single file as they exit the infield, ahead of the run up the hill to finish the first lap...

Warrington leads the field down the front straight to end Lap 1...

Heading down the back straight, Ed Greenhalgh launches an attack on Silvestre...

And the AMR is through to 3rd position...

Silvestre, as a result of losing that spot, is slow off the corner, allowing the chasing TNR of Sheppard to close...

But the TafuroGP driver maintains his 4th place....

John Warrington leads the field, as he heads up the hill to end Lap 2....

Warrington sets the first flying lap of the race as he finishes Lap 2....

Greenhalgh locks up, as he brakes hard into Turn 1...

Glen Sheppard is hot on the heels of Silvestre in the Tafuro GP entry...

In the midfield, the action is wild. Charrel Jalving sits in the middle of a pack...

At the bottom of the screen, Sheppard is lunging to the inside of Silvestre....

But Silvestre holds the TNR off again....

Rubens Griedanus runs in 6th....

Vilela appears to be holding on to the lead car of Warrington....

The top 8 positions after 3 laps...

Turn 1 appears a popular and busy place to try and overtake....

Warrington must have been slow off of Turn 2, and Vilela is all over the AMR machine!!

And the ART driver is through to the lead...

And the backstraight is the busiest place on the track at this point, with plenty of passing attempts underway....

Vilela clearly leads....

The two Aston Martin Racing machines now trail home country hero, Rodrigo Vilela....

Too much action in this shot!! Horvath attacking Cartwright; Houston challenging Maverick; and Pedersen attacking one of the Van Smirren machines....

Pedersen really having a go at Johnson as they dive into the turn....

They touch, and Pedersen runs wide....

What??!!! He did not slow and enter the track safely, and as a result gets slammed into by the unsuspecting TafuroGP of Legge.

Both the cars lose front wheels, and are out of the race very early....

Meanwhile, Vilela is building a small gap between he and the AMR's behind him....

Sheppard is in clear air in 5th, with lots of dicing going on behind him...

Matt Houston finds himself in a very busy and frantic pack of cars....

At the end of the back straight, Horvath takes himself past the two MPR's into 9th place....

As Horvath moves ahead, the two MPR's dice with each other as they exit the turn....

Jalving overtakes team mate Houston....

And further back in the field, the cars are bunched together....

Back up the pointy end of the field, Ed Greenhalgh is attacking pole sitter and team mate, John Warrington....

Greenhalgh is through to 2nd place....

On lap 6, positions 1-8

On lap 6, positions 9-16

On lap 6, positions 17-22

From 9th position, Horvath appears to be mounting a challenge on Maverick, for 8th position....

And after a slipstream on the back stretch, Horvath accounts for Maverick at the turn....

For MAC Racing, Hinz and Hunsley run together back in the pack

An overview of everybody's race pace....

Sivestre trying very hard, locks up....

Greenhalgh begins to stalk Vilela....

Horvath though, is the fastest man on track currently....

As things start to settle down, the top 8 positions....

Positions 9-16.....

And positions 17-22

And we now take a short break in the broadcast, with the action coming back right after these oh so very important car, fuel and energy drink commercials....

My race pace is always shocking when I qualify well. FFS

So anxious...

One Racing driver and team manager
GPGSL-3: champion in 2007/2013/2014!
GPGSL-4: testdrivers champion in Season 11!
Welcome back to the Interlagos circuit, lets get back to the action....

Southern Cross Racing's Ross Cartwright is challenging for Maverick's 10th position....

He gets it, as they head through the turn....

Marko Aleksander is under attack from the pacey Norbert Horvath....

Horvath up to 7th spot now....

Daniel Thomas is making a move on the inside of Elleker in the Christel VXR....

Uh-oh, this doesn't look good.....

Nope, not good. Elleker gets spun into the outside retaining wall at very high speed....Cartwright has lost his front wing....

Elleker appears to be alive, but his machine has lost his front right wheel

Debris all over the track....

Elleker's missing tyre sits in the middle of the track, as the Christel VXR sits precariously at the side of the road, in a very, very dangerous spot!! Safety car anyone? Hello race control.... Nope, they aren't listening....

By the time the leaders come down the front straight, the debris is all gone. What great marshalls here in Brazil....

Meanwhile, the SCR of Daniel Thomas limps around with no nose cone....

Hinz pits, with Thomas coming in behind....

It appears Hinz lost a front wing in that Thomas/Elleker collision....

A very long stop for the MAC Racing crew....Hmmm....

Thomas and Hinz rejoin the track, whilst Horvath once again goes quickest.....

The top 4 drivers all on the back straight....

After 15 laps, the top 8 in the standings.....

Positions 9-16 at lap 15....

Positions 16-22.....

Cameras catch the TSS of Griedanus overtaking the TNR of Sheppard.....

Horvath sits behind his team mate.....

New race leader!!! Ed Greenhalgh has no traffic behind him as he shoots down the front straight.... where is Vilela???

Vilela is making his first pit stop....

The new top 8 running order after Vilela has made his stop....

Plenty of drivers yet to take their first stops....

Greenhalgh is in pit lane.... will he hang on to the lead??

And another new leader, this time John Warrington. But, what is that reading on his fuel gauge? Looks like AMR have had a brain fade, and forgotten about the 2 fuel stops....oh no!!!

Warrington leads, the only man not to have stopped for fuel. Knowing the subsequent penalty for a 1 sttop, AMR are instructing Warrington to put the foot down....

With a healthy lead over Vilela, Warrington is trying his heart out....

Cartwright holds 9th place for Southern Cross Racing....

MPR's Jalving in 10th....

John Maverick 11th for ART

Matt Houston sits in 12th....

Dean Kittleson 13th for Van Smirren Motorsports....

Karjalainen in 14th in the Snake Motorsports entry....

Ben Johnson runs in 15th....

MAC Racing's Jack Hunsley sits 16th....

Jack Worseling in 17th....

Daniel Thomas in 18th after his accident with Elleker....

And Christopher Hinz in 19th, the last man on circuit....

Approaching halfway, Warrington is still yet to pit.... Vilela is 2nd on the road....

Whoa!! Matt Houston is sure on fire! An oil fire has set the MPR Lancia up in flames and smoke....

After smacking the barriers, Houston is okay, but out of the race....

On lap 25, Warrington leads, and is finally heading to the pits. Maybe AMR have him on a bizarre 2 stop strategy to close the race??

Positions 9-17 at half distance....

Warrington pits.....

And after taking that stop, Warrington slides into 6th place, just behind the pair of TSS entries....

Griedanus is in 4th place, but WAIT A MINUTE! Who is that in the ART Racing car there, off track???!!!!

It's Vilela!!!!!

Replays showed, Vilela just drove too hard off of turn 2, and put himself into the barriers!!!

Rodrigo Vilela steers his broken race leading machine to a safer place....

Marshalls come to retrieve the home country hero's machine....

Back to the action, and Sheppard has Cartwright applying the pressure right behind him....

And using a tow down the following straight, Cartwright is through to 7th....

John Maverick rounds turn 1, just moments after his team mate crashed in the same part of the course....

WTF???!!!!!!!!

Maverick has done the EXACT same thing his team mate did just moments ago!!!! He too is out of the race!!! Amazing!!! ART Ford may need to check their engineering, as two identical failures within moments, bizarre!!!!

After all that mayhem, Ed Greenhalgh leads, with a healthy 8 second lead....

Positions 9-16 with 18 laps remaining....

Aleksander forces team mate Griedanus to block going into the first turn....

TSS team mates battling it out....

2nd place runner Silvestre is in the pits for his second and final stop....

As Ben Johnson steams down the back straight, Charrel Jalving is exiting the long Interlagos pitlane....

But Jalving holds onto the position, with Johnson in the mirrors of the MPR....

On lap 35, Greenhalgh leads....

Positions 9-16....

With just 16 cars still running, and the laps winding down, we will take our final break. Then, back for the closing laps of the Brazilian GP....

One Racing driver and team manager
GPGSL-3: champion in 2007/2013/2014!
GPGSL-4: testdrivers champion in Season 11!
We are back, with the action at Interlagos still bubbling away....

Aston Martin's John Warrington powers on in 2nd position, with his team mate ahead of him, yet to stop for the final time.... GPGSL officials have handed down to the AMR team, the official ruling of a 12.5 second penalty IF Warrington does not make that second mandatory pit stop.....

Sheppard emerges from the pits down in 9th. Not a great stop from TNR.....

Greenhalgh tackles Turn 1....

And knowing the full story about Warrington's predicament, and the penalty time to be applied, the soon to be named champion is hard at it, trying to build a lead!!

Silvestre in 3rd, he has the two TSS cars of Greidanus and Aleksander chasing him, and the fast Horvath in the TNR not too far off either......

All the pit stops done, and Warrington re-assumes the lead. He needs to finish at least 12.5 seconds in front to claim the win, but his speedy team mate may have other ideas....

The 9th to 16th position cars.....

Lap 38 and Ed Greenhalgh has the hammer down. With fresh new tyres, low fuel, he is absolutely flying!

The gap to Warrington is closing, by the lap, and by every sector! Will "Fast Ed" catch his team mate??!!

VSM's Dean Kittleson has a big gap in front of him to Sheppard....

Aleksander doesn't seem content to settle for 4th, tucking in behind Silvestre as they head down the back straight....

Silvestre appears to have no answer to the pace of the TSS, and Aleksander hauls himself up to 3rd, and on track for a podium finish....

And whilst that was happening, Horvath has somehow managed to slip past Greidanus!! The tv cameras appear to have missed that one....

One place out of the points, Jack Hunsley has a lonely empty road ahead of him....

Warrington still leads, but the tenacious Greenhalgh is closing in....

12th place Johnson is still in hot pursuit of Tommi Karjalainen just ahead of him....

Horvath is still powering on! This time, he is challenging for Silvestres' 4th position....

Greenhalgh runs through the windy infield, with some of the other contenders in the background....

2 laps to go, and the Aston Martin Racing boys head onto the front straight.... Even with the ensuing penalty, Warrington should be a comfortable 2nd place...

Whoops!!! 10th place Karjalainen locks up exiting turn 2.....

He slams into the barriers....

And is OUT! What a shame for Tommi.....

Warrington plows on, with Greenhalgh forever closing. No team orders here, telling Ed to slow down to gift the win to John.....

John Warrington crosses the line first at Interlagos, but.... a 12.5 second penalty will very unfortunately strip him of that win....

Daniel Thomas, after a mid race accident, brings his Southern Cross Racing Holden home in 12th, for the final point in Brazil....

The podium was a sombre affair, with Aston Martin Racing drivers reluctantly "swapping" spots....
The Brazilian GP Race Director officially expresses his embarrassment, and apologies to John Warrington, on the forced stripping of the win.

Still, a great day for AMR, with Ed Greenhalgh "effectively" taking the victory.....
Official results to be posted momentarily......

GPGSL Team Owner Debut - Melbourne, Season 8 - present
GPGSL Test Debut - Hungary, Season 4. GPGSL Race Debut - Adelaide, Season 5.
There's the formation finish we missed at Spa!

Bad luck for John, those strategy problems seem to affect him the most of all! :( Still, another 1-2 is a brilliant result for the team, and I think wraps up the constructors championship!

As for myself, I still can't believe the luck I'm having this season! Bad luck to Rodrigo, we seemed to have very equal pace, as we maintained that 1.2 second gap for many a lap. Unfortunately any potential battle at the end of the race didn't come to fruition.

Great race pace, great pit work, great result from 13th up to 4th...
