GPGSL S9 - Team Launch Thread

Southern Cross Racing Season 9

SCR today unveiled their Season 9 cars at their Woking UK headquarters. Drinks and nibbles supplied by XXXX and Donut King.

On hand to present the cars were team principal Mal Stoddart, drivers Ross Cartwright, Joseph Gilson, and Greg O'Brien and MDB Snake Motorsports owner Maikel De-Boer. Ernie Mudcake was also seen skulking around the back of the garage.

Presenting the Season 9 Race Cars





All invited guests received a limited edition Minichamps car featuring SCR debut test driver Greg O'Brien.

On display for nostalgia buffs was the Southern Cross Racing original GPGSL entry.

Greg O'Brien Reveals Season 9 Helmet

Today marks the start of change for Greg O'Brien, who will be joining Southern Cross Racing (SCR) for Season 9 of the GPGSL. Having enjoyed his first season with the now defunct Christel VXR, O'Brien can only look forward to the future. And what better way than to reveal his brand new helmet. "I thought I'd go with a new design. My old design was nice, but I feel it gave me a bit of bad luck towards the end of Season 8 where my results were not as good as I thought they would be. Hopefully my results will be much better this season. Afterall, SCR are a proven race winner, having won a race last season. And my testing team mate, Maikel De Boer, managed to take 2nd in the tester's championship. So I hope I can do just as good." Along with the sponsors of SCR, O'Brien has also secured a personal sponsor in Monster Energy, who will supply cans of their energy drink to not only O'Brien, but also the team members and drivers if they choose to have them. Without further adu, here is the helmet O'Brien will be using in Season 9.

Thank you. I'm eager to see the Demon Racing team launch, as I'm sure you've got something planned for it.

Similar to season 8, can we get side on pictures of all the teams? With SCR the first team to launch, then a side on picture would be great. And with every team launch, the pictures get added on.

Anything wrong with it being familiar? I tried different designs, but decided to go with the season 8 design, with the nose section being the only thing different.

My GPGSL Career

Nice distinctive lievery for SCR again. Love it when a certain livery turns out so good for a team that you hardly ever see it drastically changed.

(Yes i'm aware how strange that sounds from me :p)

I was the one who painted SCR's livery. And as for Snake, I have no idea what there livery will be. Hopefully as good as their season 8 livery.

Calm down kids. I think that the SCR design is an improvement on season 8. Can't beat the original though. That season, I'm thinking 4, had some mega liveries.

HAHAHAHAHAHA as I laughed...!

In regards to SCR's livery, I have to say that even though the nose section of the livery is new, the rest of the livery is from the season 8 design which was painted by Incident 2k9. I tried many different designs before deciding on going with the season 8 design, while at the same time trying to make a change so that it wasn't the same completely. So even though I painted the season 9 livery, it is still highly based on the season 8 design, so credit goes to Incident 2k9 for the livery base.
