Thanks for putting together this update... again. I was manually putting together a upgraded version of the 2001 season, and there's something i really don't get with CSM mods: I always have issues. Everything seemed to be installing correctly, but the result visually is miles from what I get using my other install. I tried several options like forcing hi res textures and other twby zifox - Grand Prix 4
I've updated the external wheel so that the gloves better fit the pattern of the wheel. (I also added a readme and screenshots in the archive)by zifox - Grand Prix 4
I updated the archive (and first post) after realizing the leds were not correctly aligned. (they were set for a camera much higher centered on the wheel.)by zifox - Grand Prix 4
I've finished the external wheel: I've updated the link in the first post: the archive now contains both internal and external wheels. Enjoy. PS: I spent an awful lot of time trying to give some depth to the wheel, but when it display nicely from one camera angle, it's disturbing from another angle, so I settled with a wheel that is ok from the point of the view in mby zifox - Grand Prix 4
@MSchumi24 - I'm working on it. I won't have much time in the coming days, but I hope to finish the external wheel by the end of next week. - I'd be honored.by zifox - Grand Prix 4
My turn to share a steering wheel: the original wheel revisited to go with hi res cars packs. I tried to reproduce the original design as much as possible: it's old fashioned but i quite like it. All buttons are fonctionnal. Original wheel revamped V1.0 Original wheel revamped Internal+External V1.1 Original wheel revamped Internal+External V1.2 Enjoy ! And giveby zifox - Grand Prix 4
Both screenshots are using the same LCD pictures, on the second one it's simply that the wheel gets more sun from the game, so the LCD segments are more visible. (first screenshot it's raining, second screenshot lots of sunlight) That's where you realise the game is old and it's just a texture: everything brightens when you have more lighting on it, it's the contrary iby zifox - Grand Prix 4
I don't know if it's linked to the same option, but the button I deactivated is in the toolbar above the 3D View. (it's the magnet)by zifox - Grand Prix 4

Ok after some time spend in gp4 builder i fixed the light positions, and had to make a few tweaks to the textures. Here's the result: Do you think I should darken the background of the LCD displays, so the LCD bars are less visible when off ? With more light, it's quite visible, as shown below.by zifox - Grand Prix 4
Did a few changes to smooth the graphics, and was ready to say: "it's finished!". Then I started a race and realised some lights were incorrectly placed when on. Rev lights are almost ok, but the three red/yellow/blue indicators are off by a 3-4 pixels on the left, and even more on the right side. I realised there's the same weirdness with the default wheel, but given the pooby zifox - Grand Prix 4
You shouldn't see any difference as it would be useful only if your application needed more than 2GB of memory, which is definitely not the case with GP3. (btw the patch doesn't convert anything to x64, so not perf boost CPU wise, it simply allows 32bits application to allocate more than 2GB of ram)by zifox - Grand Prix 3
Four times the original one.by zifox - Grand Prix 4
Several evenings later, here's the result. A few minor tweaks are needed (I need to align the bits between the center and the edge (it's a real pain in the ***... if I could lay my hands on the guy who decided to split the textures this way... I would split him the same way !), but the design of the wheel will not change much. I also need to adjust the center LCD display.by zifox - Grand Prix 4

Ace ! Many thanks for the modification you made, it's a real time saver !by zifox - Grand Prix 4
After a good amount of work, i'm finished with the lights/LCD displays. I'm quite happy with the result. Now the hard part: change the carbon texture, grips and shift paddles.by zifox - Grand Prix 4
Hi again. I did a few tests with your application, it's nicely done, and it work, I built my first wad with it. It would need a modification to become a real time saver: create a wad in one click. I always rebuild a wad from a work folder I have on my hard drive. So every time, I need to select a folder, select a file, and validate. That's how I use GP4master, and how it worksby zifox - Grand Prix 4
I'm still using GP4 master since I can't seem to be able to make wadupdater work correctly, so this is going to be a huge step up ! If your tool at least remember the last paths / filenames used for create a wad from scratch I'm going to gain quite a lot of clicks.by zifox - Grand Prix 4
velsir: you replace the cars, you can use GP4master: all cars information is packed into a file called cars.wad. You need to unpack the one in your install, overwrite the existing files with the one from the archives you have downloaded, and repack everything.by zifox - Grand Prix 4
@quickslick: indeed, thanks. I You should keep the stencil buffer to 7. The Zbuffer is a buffer in which the distance to the camera is stored for each pixel. The depth in bits controls how accurate the value is. Lower buffer depth gives less values (more approximation), so i can produce flickering if two objects are very close to one another. The value to be forced in the drivers for perfoby zifox - Grand Prix 4
Have you tried using DxWnd instead of dgvoodoo to fix the PO issue ? For me (on both an amd CPU/GPU pair and an old intel/nvidia setup), dgvoodoo fixed nothing and needed a lot of tweaking to get things working, while dxWnd was almost plug and play and PO dropped tenfold. (I use it to be able to run GP3, I have no issue to run GP4 on windows 10 with recent hardware).by zifox - Grand Prix 4
Very nice work, but too recent for my taste. I started yesterday to make an upgraded version of the default wheel. There are lots of carbon textures to use, it's eye candy, but the wheel feels so flat. I'm struggling to find a way to replicate the creases you can see on the carbon pattern. I guess i'll take care of this in the end, I started with easy stuff like buttons,by zifox - Grand Prix 4
As always your work is amazing. How many hours have you put in this track ? firebreather Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > @Hega It was a mipmap thing. Hi, I'm trying to find a hi res steering to replace the default one, internal only. (i'm using hega's generic as external) I quite like the layout of the default wheel, so I don't want a realistic wheel. I love this one: but I have no idea where to find it. A hi res version of the default one, like this one, would be nice also. =>by zifox - Grand Prix 4
As mentionned before, it's either HW or drivers related. Make sure that you have disabled all optimization regarding Zbuffer depth. As Lo2k mentionned you can try to change the quadtree culldown value and see if it changes something. Don't bother changing the stencil value to 8, you'll probably get more side effects than problems solved. (for me it leads to transparent textureby zifox - Grand Prix 4
Incredible work. I didn't plan to make a new 2001 season, but given the quality of your cars, i'm going to pack a new carset. I notice in your screenshots that you seem to have very detailed tracks (the grass in particular, is amazing), where could I find them ? Are they the ones you posted in ?by zifox - Grand Prix 4

Hi I have an issue with GP3: I can't watch a replay file. I can load it, the menu asking me what to do (loop/single/save without data) is displayed. Once I hit "display", the loading screen appears, then the game crashes to desktop. My game is patched, with a 1998 carset. (found here ), but the game also crashes with a vanilla installation. Is this a known bug ? (i have tby zifox - Grand Prix 3
How have you configured your wheel in windows ? At first I also had a very sensitive wheel, the solution was to use a wider range on the wheel (300 => 360°) and at the same time use a higher steering lock value in the game from (12-13 to 18-20°). When you reduce the steering range on your wheel, it increases the sensitivity around the center because rounding errors are bigger.by zifox - Other Games
