Good news, Eastern Creek fans. This afternoon the new easterncreek.data went in game without a hitch. Naturally the objects you see in the Screenshot (except for the track surface) are the original interlagos temporarily.

Grand Prix 4 After rescaling the background photo this morning, I managed to crank out the track database after 2 attempts. There are no track height variants or banking yet; however, when they're done, I believe the layout will be very close.

Grand Prix 4 gareth thank you for uploading the video for me. I really enjoyed watching you get into driving the car
I have run it a couple of times and it is proving to be a very useful tool.

Grand Prix 4 Just fabulous. I haven't selected the video yet. You realize you will influence my cc line as I have never raced there? Thanks for the help.

Grand Prix 4 It was actually quite the challenge to get the background photo of this track. It's made up of 40 or so images. There is a distortion problem around the centre left of the circuit I believe I managed to compensate by taking multiple images, lining them up and overlaying manually at an altitude of 300m. Anyway that's done, and it is also scaled in the builder. Looking forward to buildin

Grand Prix 4 As you are probably aware, Marino Cervini built Eastern Creek and Oran Park for GP3 also.
I'm not interested in doing a conversion for the track layout.
I was talking briefly to a photographer that did some fabulous shots of horizons of Bathurst and he asked about Eastern Creek Raceway. I was not able to stop thinking about it so I decided to research it a bit. It always was sort of on

Grand Prix 4 The .dat that is built to be used in game isn't necessarily the track database used to create different parts of the bank runoff area.
When you have completed the track.dat with the banking like the background photo you're working from, which may eventually be the final database to use, you can then edit that track.dat quite easily to enable you to build parts.
Probably the easies

I used melborne to build Oran Park so I know a little through testing. I believe the “ crowd” was in a different scene with melborne because the transparent texture of the cr

Grand Prix 4 QuoteTomMKOK thanks Laurent. So it is OK to have the pitlane tarmac overlapping the track verge at the pitlane entry / exit?
It’s okay that the textures overlap.
QuoteTomMKDo they have to be in different scenes?
They can be in the same scene.

Off-Topic I was hoping some of the windows tech savvy people here are happy with a good windows messenger replacement because myself and some of the people I work with are definitely not happy with the Microsoft alternative. As online colleagues, we have relied heavily on over the past years on the Windows Live Messenger tool. Has anybody tried Trillian or Digsby. Naturally we are all using windows XP,

Off-Topic Thank you for your efforts addie. I am actually happy that you found a few bugs and shared this with us as we can all potentially learn something. The fact that you have been around building tracks for Geoff Crammond’s series GP2 and GP3 and now GP4 shows in your approach and your final product of custom tracks. I did not have a problem myself with the track so there was nothing to share in re

Grand Prix 4 I returned to Oran Park to fix the end of the pit lane. The corner banking and the pit lane ending in the corner at the end of straight seem to be the problem for the track pit lane overlay disappearing.
The pit lane has been extended several more sectors and the problem is resolved, thanks to the posting and a brief conversation with xandy in the track editing thread where a similar problem wa

Grand Prix 4 It’s always nice for me to understand any of the man’s philosophy, as I am completely addicted to Grand Prix 4. I drove in-game for six seasons in a row full length Grand Prix. If the physics were not so realistic, I would not have bothered. Now I have a new hobby that I am even more interested in.

in my case the pitlane joins the track in a banked curve
Yes and same situation at Oran Park with the pitlane entering the track where there is banking on a long curve.

Yes, but I'm sick of the limitations of GP4's graphics, It's concerned me for a long time and I cannot ignore it anymore, it kills my enthusiasm when the end result looks no better than it does in 3ds max's viewport (without nitrous).
It's just too dated, i want reflections, ambient occlusion, normal maps...I just want it to look good.
