Things are really starting to look good for Jordan now, they've got Toyota engines, some aero components that Eddie Jordan is optimistic about and now Mark Smith is back at the team, although he takes the mantle of technical director.Looks like Jordan could begin their climb back up the grid this year, whic is good to see.

F1 <<IIRC minardi changed color for the most times of all F1 teams in last 5 years>>
True that, even then they've been black from 2001-present, so it would be nice to actually be SURPRISED by an F1 livery.

F1 Okay, so let's say the banks do take over and a breakaway series is formed, do you guys think that the manufacturers wuold get Bernie to run it?

F1 <<It is now his fault Ferrari are so far ahead of the rest of those wasters>>
how exactly?
But you are right Dave, love him or hate him (I prefer the latter) facts are facts, he has globalised F1 and to take him out of the picture now would be a pity because under his leadership F1 is reaching round the globe at a frantic pace.
Oh yes, and Kurt Busch is 2004 NASCAR Champion

F1 <<weird how the red bull dude refers to williams as BMW
maybe a sign of things to come>>
Quite possible, I can't disagree with that, although I think in this case Dietrich Mateschitz meant that BMW wanted Heidfeld in a Williams seat.

F1 Okay, fair enough, so wouldn't it be cool if there were many tyre manufacturers because unlike now where if conditions are at a certain point, half the grid loses out, there would always be someone with an advantage and the great thing is that could be so many different teams throughout the course of the season.
My interpretation of why the FIA wants a single manufacturer of tyres is that

F1 Sure, there will be another step in the revolution, but is what direction? forwards or backwards? Honda were insane to get rid of Dave Richards, but this could well be another teams gain.

F1 To say that somone wins or loses just because of tyres is absolutely absurd, sure tyres are important, but there are so many factors that make a difference, if the Michelin guys said that they are in F1 for the competition, then credit to them, it's the competition that makes companies strive to make a better product, and in this case the lessons learnt in F1 will make their way onto normal

F1 I prefer more that 2 tyre manufacturers simply because with more companies involved there are more benefits filtering down to the "man on the street" with regard to production car tyres and there will be an increased chance of all the top teams using different tyres, it wouln't really raise the grip levels due to increased competition because Bridgestone and Michelin are already wo

F1 I struggle to believe that the testing livery will be the one used come Australia, because all the other sponsors still have to be fitted in, BTW does anyone know if HSBC is still on board? Oh yes the Black Sauber looked cool but if Tissot sponsored Sauber now, it would look okay with Credit Suisse, but would look strange with Petronas.

F1 Speaking of the Pacific livery, I also thought it looked quite cool. And we must keep in mind that Red Bull Racing still have to fit in other sponsors, so it could look different to what we think.

F1 Don't be so negative, things are starting to look good for F1 again. As for Jordan, it only takes one good development to change a teams fortunes, this could be the start of Jordan's upward momentum.

F1 According to the report, Sauber will lose Red Bull which is very bad news, As a Sauber fan, I hope they can get themselves a new sponsor, which is why I hope that the 2005 car is really competitive.

F1 Push to pass (to my knowledge anyway) is a button that increases the amount of fuel going into the cylinders for a short space of time, just long enough to attempt a pass. And Sil3nt-War is right on the money, if the drivers have the grip, then they will feel more confident about overtaking, and attempt it more often.

F1 <<Considering he won the Championship in only his second year of CART (Montoya achieved that feat too, I think),>>
Montoya took the title in his rookie season AND beat Nigel Mansells record for most wins in a rookie season.

Or at Monaco when on his outlap for pre-qualifying he drove out of the pits and straight into the barrier.

F1 I remember seeing Yoong in an Aussie V8 Supercar race where it had been raining, and unlike the other drivers who only got mud on their wheels and round the bottom parts of the bodywork Yoong somehow managed to get the ENTIRE car covered in mud (that includes the roof). as for Verstappen, he is quick but since that crash in '94 (it was with Irvine I think) he just hasn't really been the

F1 I think Heidfeld should get the nod, he's served his apprenticeship more than any of the other drivers mentioned and has still shown a willingness to try as hard as possible, most other drivers would fold if they had to drive the same calibre of cars that Heidfeld has (the Sauber shouldn't be included as it wasn't THAT bad) but certainly it shows a real fight, IMO Davidson and Pizz

F1 Toyota said at the start of this season that they are going to stick with Michelin next year. So it could be that IF the Jags are bought by someone else perhaps that team could go Bridgestone.

F1 That quote from Montoya had more stars in it than an F1 paddock! But seriously though, NASCAR have had problems in the past when drivers made less than savoury remarks whilst their car was then one being listened in on.

F1 Good ideas Chet, Bring back effecient wings and slicks, (but not wide slicks because you want to keep the cars narrow for overtaking purposes), so at least the drivers have more confidence when it comes to going on the dirty line to try overtake each other, but alas the FIA don't see things that way.
