I just thought I'd mention this in case others are having similar issues running GP4 on windows 10 computers which have more than enough CPU, memory and graphics power (in theory) to run GP4. I posted not too long ago thinking the slowdowns during races (almost to a stop sometimes), might be due to GP4 tweaker or maybe team editor - maybe even the size of car wads with the latest cars and tby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
I think it's frustrating that with Codemasters game you can't even have the option of having correct track advertising or car liveries - modded liveries with mirrored logos don't exactly look great and track adverts can never be accurately updated! GP4 is almost 20 years old and yet with GP4 builder and other tools you can change pretty much everything to have realistic looking traby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Thanks Glenn, much appreciated, that seems to have worked and I also recompiled my cars.wad file just to be sure (it seems I had some files in there that weren't being used!) - So far so good! I'll try it more thoroughly over the next couple of daysby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
I use team editor to make sure GP4 uses only Lod 0 for cars, helmets and tyres, I don't know any other way to do that but I know GP4 tweaker can be used for everything elseby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Well it looks like I've found the problem by adding files step by step to my game installation. Each time I was adding gp4 tweaker, I was also adding my own cars.wad - which looks like it's the issue. I tried running the game with the original cars.wad file after installing everything else and the game runs smoothly again. It never occurred to me that this would be the issue as instalby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
I was hoping it wasn't gp4 tweaker causing the issues as it is so useful for changing co-ordinates for tyres, helmets and steering wheels and as I don't use mods, a lot of the other tweaks are useful alsoby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Yes I did try that pre-packaged version and although it did solve the patch problem, it didn't solve the slowdown issue - It isn't anything to do with processor or graphics card as they should be more than enough for gp4 but it seems each new version of windows raises more issues. I hope I don't have to give up on gp4 when every other programme or game runs better with the new pc!by neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
I've never had as much trouble getting gP4 to run as I have with Windows 10 on my new computer. I was getting "unable to extract support files, catastrophic failure" when trying to install the 9.6 patch and it was just by pure luck I think when I finally managed to get that installed! Then the slowdowns when using any track once I've installed gp4 tweaker. It seems to be the sby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
I've just upgraded to a Windows 10 pc and installing GP4 has been ok until I try installing and using GP4 tweaker (latest version). I use the same settings from the gp4tweak.ini file I used on my previous Windows 7 pc and it's causing slowdowns at certain points in the lap. When I install the game i also install gpxpatch, team editor along with gp4 tweaker and I've found that itby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Guys I'm hoping someone out there still has the Intro Video for GP4 which was released a few years ago now. It features some shots of Monaco including the harbour and some of the pre-race parties It must be fairly old as it has Jenson Button with his previous girlfriend Jessica! I've mislaid the disk I had it copied to and have now replaced my computer - schoolboy error!!! herby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
It's the other way around, you need to have 0 at the start of that line in the f1graphics.cfg file to view the tyre treads correctlyby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Hi guys I'm hoping someone can help me with an unusual issue I've started to have with Gpxpatch. Up until recently I had no issues with version 4.52 but now for some reason everytime I boot up my computer (I use windows 7 with an NVIDIA GTX1070 video card), the first time I try to launch GP4 the programme stops responding and I have to close it down. Then each time I start it after tby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Great update of Baku 2019, I just wanted to ask if anyone has put together a magic date file for this track? if not, can anyone tell me if you can take some settings from other tracks for things such as car engine power and grip for player and AI cars and apply them to the Baku circuit or do you need other basic settings as well for a magic data file?by neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Is there any progress on the certificate error that I and others seem to be getting? If using Firefox, you have to change security settings to get the site to load which probably isn't ideal.by neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Thanks Heikki, amazing cars and extras as wellby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
The Ferrari looks great Arnaud but the file is set to private so it can't be downloadedby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Thanks for the gridcars, would you be able to release the .tga versions of the files as installing the .gpi files crashes gp4browserby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
It's always a good sign when shots of the new seasons cars start appearing and testing hasn't even finished yet!- the quality of the work is always amazingby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Hi Bernard, thanks for that - can you explain a bit more what you mean by the.col file has to cover the garage floor - is there a way to check this for each track?by neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Yes that has worked, I used the .col file from the 2018 Monza update by Gap177 and for some reason that was enough to solve the issue. The tracks appear to be based on the same layout with virtually identical object layout so I'm not sure how the .col file became corrupted or was different but at least it has fixed the problem. At least it's another option to fix the pitcrew glitch!by neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
I've updated the track for the last few years so I'm not really sure which version I started off with - probably Hega's 2013 version but not sure I've just downloaded the Gap177 2018 Monza update - and the pitcrew shows up as normal!! - not sure where the difference is but it looks like I'll have to switch to that track - or would the .col from one version work for theby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Guys I'm hoping someone can help - I know the invisible pit crew issue has been mentioned before but my Monza track is defeating every option I've tried - including the 2 settings in the graphics config file (made sure they are correct). I've also tried deleting the f1gstate files, copying my F1 graphics config to my desktop and restarting the game, then copying my config file backby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
the shapes from Jvinu2000 (Bell HP7, Schuberth SF1, Arai GP5 or GP6, Stilo ST5) which all seem to use the same texture layout Or maybe the older Arai GP-5 RC 2008shape by MDBSnake - which has the seperate driver 1-1 and driver 1-2 textures needed for GP4by neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Hope you get going with this project, I'd like to suggest a Mark Webber helmet from his last season in F1 and maybe an Ayrton Senna helmet also. There don't seem to be any available for these drivers on the newer helmet shapesby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
If you have bumpmapping set to "on" in the graphics options, I think this lightens the tarmac texture. I seem to remember changing that setting to "off" a while ago and it seemed to help There may be other settings in the f1graphics.cfg that could also work but you could give that a try anywayby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
I used a 2016 car and made my own livery so it's not exactly like the 1980's car but it has all the old sponsors - although goodyear is replaced by Pirelliby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
I use 9 of the current teams, I replace Sauber with Benetton - so I can get Schumacher into the game and my 11th team is JPS Lotus - so I can get Senna into the gameby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Hi guys I just wanted to ask if anyone has GP4 versions of the 2018 helmet designs for Grosjean, Perez, Ocon and Bottas that they would be willing to share. I know the rest of the helmets have been released but nothing for these drivers. I can update some things for GP4 but I could never match the quality of helmet designs we are usually lucky enough to be able to use.by neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Hi Lez If you are still able to add fixes to your Mercedes, would it be possible to fix the area on each side of the engine cover on the cars where the driver numbers are, it looks like there are holes in the cover in the middle of the numbers where part of the mapping is using a black texture. update - Apologies, just realised from views of the real car that these areas are actually on thby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Car looks great Isaint but there seems to be a problem with the AMG EQ power logo mapping on the left side of the engine coverby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
