Here is the updated Istanbul track with the rookie ideal line: www.mediafire.comby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Amazing work Heikki! Who could've thought we'd ever have different tyre shapes?by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Some custom tracks do not have the ideal line. If you're running Istanbul 2011 from F1virtual, by tomorrow I can roll out an update to include the F5 line.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Are we still on race weekend hype? Carl_gpgames has kindly provided some screenshots of our Sochi track, and a sneak peek of the upcoming 2021 Mod at the same time. Images have been cropped and scaled to be forum-friendly, click them to access the full resolution, ultra wide screenshots in all their glory.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
I received a warning some of the links on the first post had expired, they should be all okay now.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
The face limit for a single scene is indeed 65k, plus what gap177 said above about the overall limit. As Duffer said, you'll have to simplify your mesh in order to keep the idea of 3d tyrewalls. You're correct about the Visibility List, it's merely an indicator and does not relate to the crash. About the backward faces, check if you're not using a 2-sided material in theby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Tarmac uses the texture in resources\tarmacmap.tex, no matter what you do in GP4Builder. Also, as I wrote in another topic, QuoteUsed only if "bump mapping" is disabled in graphics options. This could be any texture (you could make a Mario Kart Rainbow Road with it), but tarmac color always reverts to gray if bump mapping is enabled. I don't know why there is a second texture foby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Small fix for Zandvoort uploaded, same link as before. Corrected pit entry bump and updated timing sectors thanks to newly released FIA data. It's still a basic .dat, so expect inaccuracies. @Isaint: Eh, I've given up leaving this game behind. Every attempt I've made at retiring only lasted for a year or two. It's a curse, I tell youby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Just got word that cars are jumping on pitlane entry, I'll fix that asap so a full race can be run without major issues.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Hmm the answer might be a little complicated, since we don't fully know how GP4 works. Individual driver performance comes from the performance file, which is separate from magic data. The CC power and grip factors are multipliers (500 = 100%) which are applied to all cars equally (except player), depending on which difficulty level you're running. Speed itself depends from differby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Magic data is what you're looking for. Download CMagic and use it to extract magic data from the original tracks (which is stored in gp4.exe) then apply it to the modded tracks, and you should have the "unmodded" AI behaviour. This will work when the original and modded track layouts are the same. If the track is not one of GP4's original season, you'll need to editby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Added basic .dat for Zandvoort, link Not as complete as I'd hoped it to be before race week (runoff elevations aren't done for example), but I believe it's a good base nonetheless. Special thanks for gildoorf and Öggo who helped me immensely.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Mexico is a nice example because whether you're modding for naturally aspirated engines or turbocharged engines makes a massive difference. From the F1 website (https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/features/2015/10/all-time-high---the-rigours-of-racing-at-altitude.html) QuoteTypically, for every 100m increase in altitude, engine output dropped by about one percent. Back in 1992, when F1 racby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
More findings from my GP4.exe investigation. First, about rear wing setting randomizer. Rear wing is randomized for each team, at the start of each race weekend. For each team, there is a 50% chance rear wing setting will be exactly as set in magic data, 25% chance both cars will use one step lower and 25% chance both cars will use one step higher. It is possible to rework the code to eliminatby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
@C490 what is your Excel version? Some formulas use functions only available from Excel 2019 I'm afraid.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
This error message comes from GP4.exe itself, but unfortunately that's all the info I've got.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Lots to answer, let's go! Hope I don't repeat what was answered already. Starting by the .wad and its files... .ccl - This is a GP4Builder exclusive format, not read by the game, so no need to store it in the .wad. Used to import/export cc-lines. .cfp - This one stores the crowd flashes positions. I tried editing a .cfp file once but couldn't see any change ingame. I believeby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Congratulations on the release Carl. Surely this will only become more and more detailed as we continue to unravel GP4's inner mysteriesby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
I had started work on a modern layout of Imola which I almost finished, but as it's been three months since I last touched the files I decided to upload them here in the unfinished tracks pool (should've done that earlier, eh) It's a playable version with 2001 graphics, this is what it looks like: www.youtube.com To-do list: - Track banking is incorrect at S/F straight - A feby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
For now we don't have any user-friendly tool that allows us to correct this issue, the only way without CSM is if you're familiar with any hex editor software. If you do, use the info in the first post to know where to edit the GP4.exe directly.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
A common bug in recent F1 mods is that cc-cars completely miss the braking point at slower corners (think Monza first chicane), failing to compensate for the extra weight of modern cars. Why that happened remained a mystery, until... I noticed the car weight is stored three times in the GP4.exe, but Physics Editor 1.03 only updates two of them. The third one seems to be linked to braking calcuby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
What I meant is that GP4 randomizes the rear wing values from the magic data, sorry if I wasn't clear. So even if the magic data says 1, some cars may have 2 or 3 for example.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
That version of Monaco is still a work in progress, and should be released later this year.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Rear wing setting is slightly randomized for cc-cars, but I have no idea how exactly GP4 does that, or if we can influence that in any way.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4

Hello everyone, A very small update has been rolled out to fix the tarmac markings bug in the no-chicane version. To get this working, each layout is now a separate download. No other changes have been made, so you don't need to redownload the chicane version if you have v1.1 already. Meanwhile, work on a fully upgraded 2020-21 version is still progressing. Just set your Windows Explorer to show file extensions, then you can rename them. The exact procedure depends on your Windows version. In my Windows 10 (PT-BR), it's on menu "Exibir" - "Extensões de nomes de arquivos".by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
