Calling any friendly and experienced RFactor to GP4 car converters out there! I have the RF car shape (complete .mas or gmts as you prefer) . I have the completed livery in proper GP4 format and I have an almost complete mod to put it into. I just can't convert the 3d model without error (although I did get close): so I just need someone to convert the shape into GP4 format & I'mby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Nice work viking. Excellent harmony of colour. I sure wish it looked a bit more like that out of my window right now.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Thanks for sharing RuiTap. You've packed a lot of features into your first two tracks (crossover, tunnel, bridge and expansive scenic views) and it's all very promising. Keep up the good work.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Just so you know, if you have a working GP4 folder/mod in Windows, the game should function perfectly in Linux directly from the Windows partition, i.e. there shouldn't be any need to have to install again. (Not if it's run through CSM though - CSM is a bit of a problem in Linux). I have a solution for that too, but all in good time... Good luck!by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Yes, the older period mods tend to be easier for weaker machines. Not as many polygons to throw around. Linux uses something called WINE to run GP4 (and many other Windows apps and games). Wine is built into most Linux distros and it basically runs the game in a stripped down (fake) Windows environment within Linux - which is why it's quicker than native Windows (generally). When GP4 came out it hammered almost any PC of the period and even today it requires fairly decent hardware to get the most out of it. The quad core CPU will help, but the slower clock speed will detract from that a little. Both CPUs are barely adequate really. However the GFX card should give a noticeable improvement over your old one. Nearest equivalent I had in the past (E5430, GT720, 4by Noog - Grand Prix 4
With your CPU a virtual machine is going to be too slow. I haven't watched it, but this vid claims to have your answer. (PS: I'm biased, but if it was me I'd bin all the MS rubbish and install Linux).by Noog - Grand Prix 4
It comes with GPxPatch.exe, which you should using already (lots of benefits). Get it here (blue speedo is selected by default when you install):by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Looks good enough to stop for a picnic and admire the view. Top class. Thanks. (Could use a few cows though)by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Alpha layers. You need some. How you do it depends on which paint package you use. There's some useful info here on the forum if you look for it.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Astounding attention to detail. Fascinating insights and observations that would have passed me by. Just brilliant man. Every time. Thanks.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
I did a lot of experimenting with these values last year. 1. Braking range min (any value), tends to lead to cars being knocked off the track as others run into them and break their front wing! Tended to spoil the fun for me. 2. Braking range max is a much better option, but it's best kept below 3000 if you want the driver to ever finish a race! It's a very powerful modifier. 3by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Excellent work. Thanks.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
There's another link a bit further down, where it says here Thanks for making me aware of it - and thanks to filou16 for making & hosting the update.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
I'm not involved, but I'd just like to point out that you (i.e. whomever), could sort everything automatically using a combination of the INDEX, MATCH (for the driver names) and LARGE functions (for the points totals). It seems more complex than it really is, but these examples might help you get started: LARGE INDEX MATCH I can also help by giving you a working exaby Noog - Grand Prix 4
I expect you already know this, but you know it doesn't work with YOUR car, only the CC cars, right? (At least it never does for me). Have you tried making a copy of the mod and dumping all the gp4tweak files from another mod into it? It would be interesting to know what happens. It must work then, surely? Alternatively, if you can't fix it AND you use a separate PF for each raceby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Not tried yet, but I liked the original so I'm sure I'll enjoy this. Thanks.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Quick note for GIMP users: These are the menu options you need to check out: LAYER - TRANSPARENCY - ADD ALPHA CHANNEL LAYER - MASK - ADD LAYER MASK LAYER - MASK - SHOW LAYER MASK Mentioned because I tried (and failed) many times to do alpha layers in GIMP (in Linux), but it turns out, that's all you need to know really. PS: If ADD ALPHA CHANNEL is greyed out, it's becauseby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Had this problem the other day (89 mod). Everything above is correct & necessary. HOWEVER, if it still doesn't work: Check that you have gp4tweak.dll in the same folder as gp4tweak.ini (both in root of GP4 on mine). OK to copy the file from another mod. Worked for me.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Missed this one and now it comes with a new dat. Good stuff. Thanks guys.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
@ TomMK Didn't work for me in Linux either. Kept crashing at the end. However, it DID work in Windows 7 (under VB). Since then, it now works in Linux (under Wine) too! Hardly a fix, but.. EDIT: Just deleted the whole thing and tried again. Didn't work this time. Still works in Win7 but not Linux. Think it might have something to do with GFX calibration (f1gstate.sav).by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Absolutely outstanding attention to detail. That you seem to be able to take your work to even greater levels of perfection with each new release is truly remarkable. Thank you so much.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
And the trees. Great pics. Enjoying the mod. Thanks to everyone.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
I saw it Saiborgas, but I'm not a car painter. Something simple like a steering wheel is my limit. Should be quite an easy one for someone though, since the car is based on the Lotus 79, so you have the template in the mod. Give it a try. Or maybe do some arms yourself? They're really easy.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
