Thanks for another innovative development Carl.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
What a masterpiece. Absolutely stunning!by Noog - Grand Prix 4
You're welcome. When you install ZazTools (and therefore CSM) the .cuh file will be associated with CSM so when you dbl click the cuh, CSM will load automatically for you. Should be self explanatory after that, but there's a help text here which might help should you hit problems. It's normally pretty smooth though, so explore and have fun.by Noog - Grand Prix 4

Even though the machine had a real one already? Interesting. Any idea why it didn't see it? Was it an external USB drive or something? Anyway, good to know you're up and running Erikmiskolin.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
The FAQ is one of the sticky posts in this forum, Like Mortal, I'm leaning towards this being a GFX problem too; so give this a try: Open up your /GP4/f1graphics.cfg file. Look at the setting on the first line (ie "f1graphics.cfg controls all settings" ). Now, whatever it is (ie 0 or 1), change it to the other one, save it (making a note of the date/timestamp) - wait a minutby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Didn't you answer your own question some time ago? I have a five-step site recovery plan if anyone's interested: 1. Update all tracks to include a start/finish line toll booth (complete with virtue signals - in green, obviously) 2. Install parking meters in every pit stall and issue fines and fees for unlicensed car breakdowns and recovery 3. Reduce all track lengths by 25% to save fuel 4. Rent spaces to hot dog vendors next to all speby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Hmm. Very strange. So, just to be clear: 1. If you run GP4.exe and you get a black screen which you have to kill in the Task Manager (which isn't all that unexpected) AND 2. You run GPxPatch.exe and hit the Start GPx button - the black screen comes up in front of GPxPatch - then you kill GP4.exe so you can see GPxPatch again but there's still no gpxpload.txt. (But this is reby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Finally (by which I mean I'm out of ideas after this), you said you have GPxPatch installed, so load it, but before you launch the game, make sure you check the enable debug mode, set the verbosity to medium or high and then hit the "Start GPx" button. Now, if you close the game using the Task Manager and look into your GP4/gpxdata folder you should have a file called gpxpload.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Also, just remembered something: Make sure you have these files in your GP4 folder: mfc42.dll msvcrt.dll binkw32.dll I think GPxPatch installs the first two but I'm not sure about binkw32 - and without it I think the intro video will probably hang, so it could well be that.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Wish I could be more helpful because I'm certain I had the problem back in the day, but what happens if you delete (or rename) f1graphics.cfg and/or f1gstate.sav to force the game to re-create its defaults? If that doesn't work however, you could try downloading the ready-built installation from Tom's site, here. AFAIK that should just work without any messing around.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Hmm. As I say, I don't use Win 10 (or any Windows for that matter), but I'm wondering what error message you get if you open up a command line and run GPxPatch.exe (or even GP4.exe) from there?by Noog - Grand Prix 4
An older version perhaps? 4.52 is the latest. Don't worry though. Many Win10 users here so I'm sure someone will help you out soon. There are quite a few threads about Win10 problems on the forum too, but I'm not sure the search function is working correctly at the moment so I for now I suggest you put GP4 +Windows 10 into a search engine to help you track them down. PS:by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Win 10 is not my thing, but are you running the game from GPxPatch? If not, you need to. See the end of this thread for more details If you don't have it, GPxPatch can be downloaded from the developer's site here PS: Edit - just noticed you have been using GPxPatch. Apologies. In which case, take a look at this thread.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Looks like an instant classic to me. Beautiful work.by Noog - Grand Prix 4

If I may say so Cheryl-lee, you're finding it hard to figure out because you are like a person finding a rusty knife who decides to take over the world before lunch. Now I'm not going to say you can't. But you might like to conquer a few smaller principalities first to get some perspective on the task at hand. Be like your avatar. You can do that, but wherever you put the installer ZazTools will install itself to a folder in your Windows Program Files folder and put an entry on the start menu. To install a mod once you've done that though, all you need to do is download a mod (ie a CUH file), dbl click that and Windows will go an get ZazTools (CSM) for you. As for GPxPatch, yes, put the file you downloaded into theby Noog - Grand Prix 4
If it's just the one track, you could edit the MD file to solve the problem: desc70=player fuel consumption desc71=cc fuel consumption Take them both down a bit. desc70 is usually a bit higher than 71 (about 1000 more).by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Yes, it does seem complex at first (and it is really), but it's more to do with the fact that GP4 was never really intended to be any thing other than a stand-alone 2001 season game, so we have to use a diverse selection of tools created by users to force it to do what we want. So here's a brief outline of two of the basics I outlined above: ZazTools - This excellent little packaby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Welcome Cheryl-lee. Your questions are good, but the answers are more complex than you might expect. Putting individual cars into GP4 often requires quite a bit of background knowledge and jumping in at the deep end is really tough; even for girls! For now, I would strongly suggest that you choose a particular mod and install that, because it's a more straightforward process - and tby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Ah yes. Apologies. I see it now. I only do short races so I doubt I've ever checked that option to notice the other settings. Now that I do see it however, I'm intrigued by "engine fixing". Does this have any impact on the likelihood of a CC car with an electrical or throttle problem making it back to the pits at all, or does it just adjust the time it takes to fix the probby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Jan, I could be wrong, but I don't think GP4Tweaker has an engine efficiency (or effectiveness) setting, so it's not easy to know what you are talking about.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
It's not as simple as it sounds, but, You could try this in the performance file (PF): Note also my post below that one where I mention error chance in the MD (ie NOT the PF). That works very well. Or this, in the same thread, which edits the magic data file (MD), which may (or may not) make the start of the race more... um... crashy. You can also edit other things in theby Noog - Grand Prix 4
You're welcome. Depends what you mean by not being able to click on 'edit keys', because as far as I know there is no such thing. GPxPatch has a button called 'Edit Key Binds' which will let you edit the key assignments, but the game itself also has a more limited option: (CONTROLS > ADVANCED > KEYBOARD SETUP > CHANGE DRIVE KEYS).by Noog - Grand Prix 4
It's a long time since I did it and I don't use Windows anyway, but if you've downloaded this file I'm pretty sure you just copy the contents of the archived file to a folder and play: ie 'ready to play' as Tom said. I have something similar (ie a default installation) that I made up for myself and (like Tom's IIRC) it doesn't require any extra work, ieby Noog - Grand Prix 4
To save Tom replying - yes, it's perfectly safe. Your filter software is paranoid and delusional. You can ignore it.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
