Ok, more questions: 1) Which version of the tools? Under the ZaZ Tools heading on GP4 Central, there are three; The two identical (or so I believe) repacks from GP4 Central and GP4DB and the 'original package'. I've only ever used either the GP4 Central hosted repack or the original package. 2) Where on your PC are the tools located? e.g "Program Files (x86)\Zaby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Well, the idea of giving my setup from last season a go failed spectacularly; spinning off through the gravel at turn 3 kind of sucks. But you're not wrong about this version being a bit faster; Even with what felt like a pretty dodgy lap, I managed an OK time. Also, just checking, can we edit camera positions and what-not?by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
When you say "This also affects other programs I try to open" does it give you the same error there? If not, then there is a good chance the problems are unrelated. (As it is, I cannot see how the installation of CSM would have affected WinRAR) Just some random questions: 1) Where did you download ZaZ Tools from? 2) Some details about your computer, specifically the operaby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Some nice times up early, with Tom already ahead of the top time from last season's test; This new physics is going to make for an interesting season I reckon! I'll hopefully have a lap done tonight; I reckon I'll try a few with last season's setup first. Best of luck all!by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
I only know how to do it in 3DS Max, so that's probably of little use to you. Just for the sake of experimenting, I just quickly through this one together, using the 'flip' and 'rotate' mapping options on each part in GP4 Builder until it looked half-way OK: It ain't pretty, but it is most definitely recognisable as a Caterham. Whether that will work forby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Yep I can do mapping. I've got the most recent versions of your '12, '13 and '14 CSM mods; Do you just want me to use the textures from them?by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Hi all, This will, as the title suggests, be a place where I'll be linking a bunch of stuff on it's completion and posting WIP updates on various 'things'. Current WIP List (1st April 2015): - A Go-kart car shape. - Lower LODs for some cars that don't have any. - A 2001 CSM mod, made with all the Vanilla assets. - GP4 Renamer Redux (Beta 1.0 - 1stby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Bear in mind that I'm no expert and all of this is just a guess, if a reasonably educated one. Technically, I don't think there is anything that says it can't work. I'm not familiar with that particular game, but I imagine that such a tweak would require access to, if not the source code, at least very high level machine (or assembly? I get the two confused) code. Nowby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4

My fault, I'm probably not using the correct terminology. Hi all, I'm currently going through and making some lower LODs for some cars and, though I'm succeeding and am happy with the results, I'm wanting a more efficient way of doing it. (Must be the German blood in me!) Currently, I 'Group' all the Objects together in GP4 Builder and export that as a single .3ds which I import into Max before making my edits and exportiby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
I could be way off, but I'm pretty sure that the location of the steering wheel's info panels are a part of the steering wheel model. EDIT: Alright, now, after a quick look, I'm 99% sure that I'm correct. To find the steering wheel model and it's associated textures, look in the Cars.wad under cars/cockpits and the .gp4 file you want is 'cockpit_wheel.gp4'by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Thanks for the info guys. RE: ZModeler, which version do I need? I downloaded both 2 & 3 from their site, but only 3 works for me; trying to run 2 gives an error about 'side-by-side configuration is incorrect' or something like that. Cheers, Dougby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Hi all. Armed with my copy of 3ds Max 2013 and a basic idea of what I'm doing, I've decided I want to start making some cars. They're not going to be F1 cars - I'm not even going to attempt anything like that - but rather some unique vehicles that I'd like to see (Honda Ariel Atom) or something that's a bit of a novelty (A rudimentary Go-Kart perhaps). Don't worry fellow slow-internet user, I feel your pain. Have you looked into using a download manager, such as IDM? The full version of that requires a purchase - well worth it if you're going to use it often - but I think it also has a free trial. Even if it doesn't dramatically help the download speed, it'll probably stop the download from timing-out half way throuby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
I currently don't......but this is the first I've heard of them. It certainly seems an easier way to go about track specific car/helmet textures and car models, especially for things like your 'laptop mods'.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
The Magic Data files are editable with a text editor like Notepad. (Although I prefer using Notepad ++ whenever possible.)by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
That's odd, because I thought that GPxPatch error logs displayed the selected compatibility option for the 'OS version info'. Although I could be wrong. (It is GP4.exe that you've applied the compatibility options to isn't it?)by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
First that strikes me is that you don't appear to be running in any compatibility mode. I think this is probably the cause of the problem. Right click on your GP4.exe, click 'Properties' and then the' Compatibility' tab and select the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for' check-box. Select 'Windows XP (Service Pack 3)' from the dropdownby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Ah yes, I see. All working now, thanks.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Hi guys, So, just to learn a bit more about the basic structure of CSM mods, I started building my own with all the vanilla 2001 assets (cars, helmets etc.) (When I say 'built' I mean I used the 'build CSM mod from existing installation' option in CSM) So I had a look through all the files generated with that and it all makes sense, so then I started integrating thingsby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
@Tom 1) Would it be possible for you to upload the Readme files for the updated mods on their own, so that we can have a look at the changelog without having to download the whole thing? 2) For direct download links for people, feel free to upload the mods to those folders I linked you the other week and then direct link to them there. And thanks for continuing to update previous seasonsby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4

Thanks to Tom and everyone who participated for making this such a fun season. Congrats to Stefano and Monty for their brilliant keyboard drives! Very happy with my season overall, especially the win at Mount Panorama but I knew that poor showing at Phoenix would come back to haunt me.....oh well. Looking forward to next season and have just about decided on a final helmet design; I'by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Correct setups can vary quite a bit between styles of mod - i.e, what works for DTM won't necessarily be great for F1 - and even between seasons of one category, but here is a couple off of the top of my head for the base game: For tracks like Spa, Suzuka and Montreal, I've been happy with 10 Rear Wing, 12-15 Front, 7 gears with 7th being around '60' and 6th around '53by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Well, at least got a time submitted; I was wondering if I'd even get that much. My first dozen or so attempts ended in the wall, and this was the first one where I didn't have an engine or gearbox give up on me. It was a pretty dodgy race, but it's a time at least.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4

Hi guys, A quick little tool I've knocked up for converting from the Magic Data format used by TSM, to the format used by CMagic. I'll maybe use it, and thought that maybe some others - i.e, people who prefer using TSM to edit values, but like having the Magic Data in the .dat - might find it useful as well. I've coded it in Java - that's all I know, sorry - so you'by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Hi there, As far as I know, there are three lines that deal with fuel; The two you've got there, and another one: 5148 ; fuel??? (You're number is most likely different.) Of the two numbers you posted, I believe the smaller to be the AI's fuel consumption rate (it's over a lap I think) with the larger number being the Human Player's.
