I guess the driver/car performance levels aint done yet with Williams', Super Aguri's and Torro Rosso's at the front ;)

Can't wait for this to be released. Will give me a reason to play rFactor again.

It's a mish-mash of drivers, teams and years and appears to be Trulli. Perhaps Keke is in that Williams in the lead? :P

What worries me the most is the skid-mark which goes off to the right, yet which appears to have no drifting car in sight. I guess that's the one you were driving, Karan? :P

I believe the driver performances as mostly done actually. I just use a randomized 'quickrace' grid in most of these screens, so the order is all out of whack.

Yeah spot on gav ;) There goes the STR into the runoff.

I dont know where BMW and SA's shots were taken but the Renault is @ Imola - looks like a very detailed one, a reworked conversion of Imola GTL maybe?

The istanbul shots are quite similar to a RACE07 conversion of that track I have. I'll tell you what, that conversion is awesome - from Turn 8 you can see the paddock with amazing details. Better than the rubbish Com8 conversion.

Mills for the other shots.

Better than the rubbish Com8 conversion.

Com8s conversion is actually excellent. It isn't his fault if Codemasters can't make circuits.

have you tried the RACE07 conversion? my league races in this conversion, we've smoothened the bumps to allow F1s around the track, improved FPS and updated adverts to 2008... The paddock's view from turn 8 is damn beautiful, it would be a damn good wallpaper.

Yeah, I tried it and wasn't impressed. None of the new RACE07 tracks are nice. Zandvoort is a disgrace, and Pau and Porto might as well be fictional.

Yeah I believe the Imola version shown there was converted from RACE07

I need to ask a few qusetions about rFactor:

1. Is it better than GP4? In what ways?
2. Can you get a CSM/TSM for rFactor (obviously not thesame thing, but something like it). Links?
3. Is there a 2008 mod for rFactor? Links?
4. Is there a 2007 mod for rFactor? Links?

1 - yes, in every possible way.
2 - ctdp do a track manager type thing, where you can organise tracks for different championships. but for each mod you have access to all tracks anyway.
3 - someone will ahve it in the works.
4 - yes somewhere on this site. [www.rfactorcentral.com]

it has everything you really need for rf.

1. Is it better than GP4? In what ways?

Graphically its FAR better, physics wise its on another planet compared to GP4. It has fantastic net code, which GP4 doesn't even have. Modding, it is much more open than GP4 ever was. The only thing rFactor doesn't do well is AI, but even then it isn't as bad as people say IMO.

It is not required.

But if you want a good F1 mod, ignore them all except for GP79 and CTDP.

Damage isn't as good as gp4 (wheels just go through another) and there is no weather system at all, no rain.

Also (though you can't say gp4 is better really) the feel of rfactor is a bit "meh".

Damage is FAR better than GP4. GP4 just has standard parts which detach, whilst rFactor can have infinite amount of detachable parts, bendable parts, and full suspension, engine and gearbox damage. GP4 doesn't model any of this stuff and only has preset failures

Number of current sims which have rain...? It just doesn't happen any more. I think it's only GTR which I've played in recent years which has had it, though I presume GTR2 has it too.

I was having a discussion with Kev Williams (SKEL on these forums) about the lack of rain in modern sims at the weekend after karting and he feels it's more of a physics issue. I'm inclined to think it's a graphical one, where the rest of the game looks awesome, then you throw in what amounts to a bit of mist. It must be very difficult to program the graphics to display rain that fits in with a modern graphics engine without it looking @#$%&. Then you end up with processing on each object making up that rain and all graphics performance is lost. GP4 got around that by having minimal effects (what looked like just an overlay on visor) but they wouldn't cut it now.

If serious developments look to implement a combination of PPUs and GPUs in the future (everything is in place ready, hardware wise) with DX10, then some very nice rain effects could be had. PPUs in sims would add a hell of lot, but would be very difficult to manage online, which is where all the modern sims are aimed.
