GPL running without the annoying grip must be heaven :)

are D3 gonna release any freeware mods? you seem to be sucking up most of the best modders available for rf :(

If you check RSc, Team Players work outside D3 as well as for D3. So its perfectly possible the Team Players mods (such as this F1 1955) will be released as normal rFactor mods

btw, to clear something up, D3 is not doing payware mods. They are doing payware games ;-)

On a seperate note, i hate a run on the LawnMower mod and another large well known mod. Both were seriously good fun, even in early betas :D

So the teams which are part of D3 will be realising mods, (i.e. IDT, Team Players etc), D3 are doing payware games, will they be doing any mods at all?

Sorry the whole D3 situation is a little confusing, mainly because of the lack of information

Team Players are partners with D3. iDT is part of D3. They will be doing games, not mods

Dunno - given that iRacing has been going for at least 1.5 years now, and D3 about 1.5 days, I'd say there's plenty of info coming from such an early product(s).

We've still no idea what iRacing are doing though. We've seen some screenies of cars and a track list... and that's it. We don't know who it's aimed at, how we'll pay for it, whether it's online-only... anything. We just know it's very NR2003-based, graphically.

I know - I was using them as a basis for comparison ;)

What gav means is for D3 being around so little time, alot of info is already known :P

iRacing arent doing real series. They *may* have real late models and modifieds in the game. These are like, the lowest forms of American motorsport. bit like our Formula Ford and Formula Renaults. I think it'll be a ladder system using fictional American series based on stuff like the NASCAR truck, Busch and Cup series.

Some of the screenshots on the iRacing site are, screenshots, alot are renders. You can see where its NR2003 track format and where its 3D Max format at times.

It almost certainly will not be aimed at the normal sim racing community. They already made too many enemies and lost too many sales to survive from the community alone. realisticly, they have to aim for somewhere else and then get some community sales as a kind of bonus

From what i have picked up its almost certanly a pay-per-play system they have. Not that anything is set in stone, from what i understand alots going to change about there site, and sim, because of legal problems

just my perspective on things atm, may be wrong, but just what i've picked up on,

iracing, is very much American based their new game, too much for me, oval racing doesnt interest me at all, and stock cars don't either so unless something changes their its off the map before we even talk about pay-to-play, which i certainly wont be doing. (£60 per month for a dedicated server for my team is enough thanks!)

D3, you seem to be snapping up all the best modders about, or at least many of the most well known, thats all good and well i guess, but its slightly concerning to the rFactor fan, that quite a few big mods are now going to be seperate games - and as i asked before other tracks from rf aren't gonna work with it. also that ahem covered up press release a few weeks back, it didnt exactly have me jumping for joy ;) (i'd prefer pay full up front than have to pay for extras - you have to pay for extras your gonna split up the fanbase, not a good idea).

And then you've got simbin releasing GTR2 with most of the content from GTR1

Eitherway, its going to be interesting to see how things unravel over the next few months :)
