Normals control the reflections on the car and how smooth it looks

So a good example is this image. Good normals on this car would result in a smooth surface over the top of the sidepod and a rounded look to the edge. What that picutre shows is the normals are wrong, making it look like theres some sort of angle in the middle of the sidepod, which explains the concentrated light image

If you look at the F3 cars there is many many places where it is obvious and even more that has small problems. The entire car needs its normals to be redone. The cars just dont look as smooth as they should.

Have those F1 pics been sharpened, because the lines just don't look right.

Karan's F3 shots show off the poor normals nicely.

the lines are bump mapped, and it doesn't seem that AA has any effect on bumpmaps, lol. looks better in motion anyway, like with anything in rF.

Those F3 shots make it seem like the Sun emits [sic] a blinding light :\

the f3 shots do look pretty bad. the normals really show up, and no shadows? maybe its just the computer, or maybe rfactor is very unforgiving??

i've got shadows (and all other details) on high/max :P theyre probably on the otherside of the car in those pics. will have to go back to PCC cars I think, theyre the only decent looking models in rF so far.

Your welcome.

TBH, I am a bit biased too, as I am really hooked on rFactor. The school and advanced trainers are a blast, and I have yet to even take a poke at most of the tracks and other types of cars. Have not even done an online race yet, but that will come soon.

If I find time for it, I will make a thread with some screenshots from that event.

Yes Birmingham is such a good challenge. Atm, I am the fastest dude in the Advanced trainers at Birmingham short, according to rRank. I have yet to take on the Long version and Limerock... But I am looking foward to that nasty downhill chicane at Birmingham long... That will be a thriller especially, if its the scene of a passing move! o_O
