You, or some of the software you use, suck. Vista's fine. It was fine before SP1 and it's been great since. Even Creative drivers work now. When that happens, an OS is certified stable.
Vista's worth it just for SuperFetch. Unless you've got some pathetic driver or software (Norton, NVIDIA or Creative again) then it boots faster than XP on the same system.
I'm not a Vista fanboy - it's not worth an upgrade in itself - but if you're getting a new PC or motherboard then you'd have to be a @#$%& idiot to buy anything else unless you've got a piece of specialist legacy software... you'll also find it difficult soon, so you might as well just accept it just works now, get those patches downloaded and deal with it.
