I'd say your right about the plain-ness thing - definitely say I prefer very plain average jane looking girls myself.
Though another to mention, Kate Beckinsale is pretty faultless! As is Katie Holmes...except her newfound weirdo-isms! lol!

@ damn again, kate beckinsale has got really long toes, a chick that doesn;t have good feet, no matter how beautiful isn't worth the trouble.
