//Edit: after Ian Woollam's post ([www.grandprixgames.org]), I've swapped out the Crucial RAM for some nice OCZ.

Yeah I think I'll go for the OCZ its on special offer this week at £165 + VAT :)

is OCZ better than corsair?

Not really. Corsair are better value when you compare their premium sticks I think. They're both pretty similar. OCZ's 2gb package is better in this instance though.

better and £20 cheaper? Sound odd... or are u paying more as Corsair is a bigger company?

EDIT//

I was reading on the website for the mobo im getting (Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi X16 (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard) which says

'Corsair XMS-3500LL PRO Ready
The new XMS-3500LL PRO is the industry's first high-density memory that delivers blazing performance at CL2-1T low latency. Available in a matched pair of 1GB modules, it is shipped with SPD programmed at 2-3-2 -6-1T for the AMD platform. The A8N32-SLI Deluxe and the memory are optimized for each other to reach maximum performance, and are validated for stability and compatibility.'

So maybe the Corsair will be better?

Cheers
Iain

Only if you get that motherboard.

All it means (and has been proved) is that the memory is guarenteed to be compatable with that motherboard - but it always has been anyway.

Corsair are a big company, and probably overall the best memory maker, but the OCZ 2gb pack performs better than the Corsair one. The best are the Crucial Ballistx, but as Ian's found out, there seems to be a bad batch going around these last couple of weeks.

Anyone willing to spend £123 on a keyboard and mouse has far, FAR too much money!

I would have to agree there. I think I paid £12 for mine. Best mouse I've ever used, too :)

Have said that, I wouldn't mind dual core AMD though :)

Indeed.

Spilling a pint of sprite over a £60 keyboard is bad enough, let along coffee on £123's worth!

I've spilt quite a bit over my £0, 10-year-old keyboard. It still works wonderfully, and I really can't see why I'd ever want to replace it :)

There is no real rush as the pc i have works fine for now (only real new games prove a problem - such as NFS most wanted etc...)

Just out of curiosity, in what way do they prove a problem exactly?

I'll admit the DiNovo costs too much for what you get.

But it is my honest belief that the most important part of any PC, espcially ones used as often as some of us do, is the only things you actually use. Namely, the keyboard, mouse, monitor and any controllers. Anyone who's ever had as much as a fleeting shot of RSI will testify for that one.

You can't justify to people spending over £100 on a mouse and keyboard, but you need something you're entirely comfortable with, be it a third-hand OEM job, or something like the DiNovo. I bought a Logitech Ultra-X keyboard to replace my DiNovo, which does appear to be properly deaded unfortunately, and it's not even close. It's harsh on the keys, has none of the tactile feedback - it has little going for it at all to be honest. But it has a small footprint, and does its job, so it'll keep me going until I find something better.

I won't beat around the bush. There is no keyboard like the DiNovo. It rocks.
