this is awful news.

I knew he was ill a couple of years back, and he had chemo and stuff, then I though he was past the worst of it, but still continuing with treatment.

so young too.

i'm not even much of a rally fan, but am upset by this.

I am genuinly shocked, he was one of my hero's and i just feel so privalaged that i was there, on the stage and at the celebrations when he won the world rally championship. He was a great driver and a great bloke, it only seems like yeasterday that he was winning the british championship and playing backup to Colin and Carlos at Prodrive in 94 and 5, RIP richard and condolances to your family

Interestingly enough muks i think i recognise the backdrop of that photo, have you any idea on what stage it was taken? I think i was at that hairpin (in reola) at the 2001 event, i reconise the mast and vans and backdrop are very similar (of course it could be anywhere but i think it is the hairpin, it was a unique spot with a view down into the village)
