I edited out the link, Dan ;).

@Carlitox: That's how I was going about it but the guy took terrible care and clearly spilled stuff on it. If you look closely you'll notice a few decals have broken off, that happened just by touching them.

They are too expensive that's for sure and I do think their monetary worth is vastly over valued. Right so okay they are limited production and clearly meant to be collectors items so they aren't going to be priced at a "fiver", yet equally they definitely are not antiquity yet either.

Minichamps is a good "middle" brand, better accuracy and detail as far as I can tell then Onyx and Hotwheels and yet the typical retail price for a 1:43 model is about £50 and £85 for an 1:18. And this is new models at the beginning of their run. If it happens to a Senna or some other popular subject then the price goes up a further premium.

On eBay you get sellers listing some models (including 1:43 ones at nearly £200) or people expecting a model to give a significant profit from which they bought it even if it isn't in mint condition and a relatively recent subject.

And that annoys me, if I wanted to spend silly money on a small model car then I'd choose exoto where the level of detail and devotion justify the monetary valve more.

I don't want to spend £50-100 each time I want to buy a racing car model to put to my collection, the sentimental value is far more meaningful to me.

Sure if in about 50 years time certain models of mine gain a monetary value more than they have today then that's cool because they will be long out of production and be more historically significant, in other words they are closer to being antiques and heirlooms.

I was comparing my Benetton Minichamps to my Ferrari HotWheels and the difference is quite laughable, hahaha. Minichamps cuts corners and do the most simplistic approach possible, the best way to sum it up is Minichamps will properly have grills or 2 separate pieces for a wing, meanwhile HotWheels will just do crests and bumps in one plane.

I'm about to win an AutoArt Toyota GT-One :-o .

Edit: Lost it by $1 dollar as it just went over my very "exception" limit. Oh well, on to more F1s ;)

Unlucky, Autoart I hear are supposed to be really good.

I won yet another Minichamps (and it is a Minichamps this time) 1:43 Williams with Mr Button at the wheel. £6.50 ;-) another steal of a price. But I really need to stop now.

AutoArt is excellent and absurdly detailed. I was allowing myself to reach $60 for that one but not a cent more, oh well.

Hello,

It's the first time that I visit this section and it seems that most of you guys managed to have great models at a very good price including shipping cost.
Here is the latest car I've won on eBay :

If I have time, I'll share you photos of the F1 models I have.

Cheers!

I could have snatched that and a couple more late 80s/early 90s F1 cars for about $45 each but the guy kept everything dusty and it was about $10 more than I was willing to go for those classics.

So the Brundle 96 Jordan I was looking at went from $33 to $54 in 7 seconds, another one I let go ;).

Anyway I don't know if I had posted this here:

Rossi 2007

I just won this model off Ebay for £10 + P&P :)

Looking out for a Montiero EJ15 (2005) USA podium, and a Irvine 193 (Japanese GP) to complete my collection of Jordans :)

I hope you don't talk about my car because I've searched that FW14B for a very long time and for an attractive price... :(
This is a hard world... ;)

@Guimengo,

What were the models at $45?

:-)

They were the 93 Williams, a 92 or 93 or 94 Benetton, a McLaren that was from 89-92, and a couple more I can't recall. The guy hasn't relisted his stuff yet and I had it all deleted from my watch list :(.

Edit: None of them had the driver model, it was just the chassis.

All in 1:18 or 1:12? Because the 92 Williams I've just won is in 1:12.

So here is a part of my collection, only 1:18 ( or sometimes exception with 1:20, 1:24 or 1:12 ) :

Yes, only McLarens!

I've got also the MP4-12 of Hakkinen ( standard version, not black star ), the MP4-21 of Montoya and Raikkonen but I forgot to shoot them. The only great car missing is the MP4-4 of Senna, but I will to find one in a very good price because that car's price is usually very high!

Hope you like them :)
