It'll be nice to drive as Kimi and have a chance of winning again!
And, though I know I said it's a bit silly, I decided to throw together a rough formula for random-ish car allocation.
(It was either do this or work on an assignment I have, which I don't want to do.)
x = Points scored as percentage of maximum so far. (i.e. Won 2 races, scored none in third, 66% of points)
y = Position in championship.
n = Participation percentage.
t = Random number between 0 & 10 inclusive.
x*y+(n*2)+(t*(11-y))
Example 1:
100% of points, run in all races, random number = 6
100*1+(100*2)+(6*(11-1))
=
100+200+(6*10)
=
360.
Example 2:
75% of points, run in all races, 1st in championship, random number = 8
75*1+(100*2)+(8*(11-1))
=
75+200+(8*10)
=
355
Example 3:
Same as Ex. 2, except run in only 75% of races.
75*1+(75*2)+(8*(11-1))
=
75+150+(8*10)
=
305
Example 4:
Scored 2% of points, ran in all races, 8th in championship, random number = 10
2*1+(100*2)+(10*(11-8))
=
3+200+(10*3)
=
233
The car handing out system could then work something like this (2015):
For each round, the driver with the highest score would have to choose from – let us say – the McLaren or Manor.
If the person with the second highest score was within 10 points of the person who had the highest, so would they, otherwise they'd choose from what was mutually agreed to be the next worst car or cars.
The rest would depend on the number of drivers, but eventually you'd reach the point of the lowest scorers driving the Mercedes; With that formula, 9 times out of 10, the lowest scores will belong to the people lowest in the championship.
Potential issue(s):
- I don't know how hard this would be to automate.
Except now I have to do that assignment, as I'm out of things to procrastinate on!
