GP4.exe a Security threat-WTF?

Last night i Defragged my hard drive.

This morning started gpxpatch and ran the game a couple of times.

Then ran it a third time and now Norton has come up with the following;

"Sonar has removed a security threat risk behaving suspiciously - GP4.exe"

Origin: Source file - explorer.exe
File Created: GP4.exe

Now everytime i start gpxpatch, it comes up with the above and dumps gp4.exe from my computer.
Tried starting it via the exe itself, same result.

Anybody seen this before?

Ah... Good ol' Norton...

Poor chap.. Renewed it manually ;) or were freaked out to see an Automatic Renewal charged :-O

So.. Is it N360 or NIS... ?

More like .. What a Shame ..

In 2011 version you can exclude files and folders all together from being Scanned by Auto Protect and SONAR... (Stupid, Obnoxious, Notorious, Arrogant, Ruthless)

That is only if you really know its not a threat.. Beware of False Positive.....

It looks like it's only when I updated the gp4.exe (etc: using Team Editor) when Norton saw it as a threat, mortal said to make Norton ignore the gp4.exe and after afew days now, it's working ok.
Norton not to bad, just can be over protective. lol :-)

False Positive... SONAR Explained...

Hello Guys!!!

I work in Security Software industry... Know how good err.. f***** up the so called Bastard can be ...

FYI... What is SONAR...? :-( I can't define it in my own words...;) Here's Wiki...

SONAR is the abbreviation for Symantec Online Network for Advanced Response. Unlike virus signatures, SONAR examines the behavior of applications to decide whether they are malicious. Quiet simply: Behavioral Heuristics Detection..

SONAR 1, provides protection before updated virus definitions are released. (2009)

SONAR 2, intelligently measures feedback across the PC to make high accuracy decisions, seamlessly switching between protection “fuel” types as needed. SONAR 2 is designed to detect unknown threats by harnessing intelligence from all Norton protection features, whether it is driven by network communications, program activity on the system, leveraging reputation data in the cloud, or other defenses. (2010)

SONAR 3 is fine-tuned to better detect fake antivirus software and it is better integrated with the network component. According to Symantec it is now monitoring about 400 aspects of each application to determine whether it is safe or harmful. (2011) (Scary) :-o

For Norton Users - Auto protect is first line of defense from risks or your system has gone of a toss.... SONAR is 50-50...

Then again... False positive.... What to do ????

Click on this link: False Positive

Slasher.. submit the GP4 exe file and check if it is really a threat...
