Hello Guys!!!
I work in Security Software industry... Know how good err.. f***** up the so called
Bastard can be ...
FYI... What is SONAR...?
I can't define it in my own words...
Here's Wiki...
SONAR is the abbreviation for
Symantec Online Network for Advanced Response. Unlike virus signatures, SONAR examines the behavior of applications to decide whether they are malicious. Quiet simply: Behavioral Heuristics Detection..
SONAR 1, provides protection before updated virus definitions are released. (2009)
SONAR 2, intelligently measures feedback across the PC to make high accuracy decisions, seamlessly switching between protection “fuel” types as needed. SONAR 2 is designed to detect unknown threats by harnessing intelligence from all Norton protection features, whether it is driven by network communications, program activity on the system, leveraging reputation data in the cloud, or other defenses. (2010)
SONAR 3 is fine-tuned to better detect fake antivirus software and it is better integrated with the network component. According to Symantec it is now monitoring about 400 aspects of each application to determine whether it is safe or harmful. (2011) (Scary)
For Norton Users - Auto protect is first line of defense from risks or your system has gone of a toss.... SONAR is 50-50...
Then again... False positive.... What to do ????
