Part 3 San Marino GP Test Drivers Feature Race

We rejoin the action with a handful of laps remaining, and the action has really picked up just as we return to the coverage.....

Our race leader pits...

So do 2nd and 3rd place McGregor and Mills...

But Mills has a faster stop, and gets out just ahead of McGregor...

The early stop by Somogyi clearly didn't pay off, and he is behind Mills.
But wait, they are both facing the wrong way!!!

Replays show what happened....

Warmer tyres on Somogyi gave the chance to close up behind Mills, but an error sees Somogyi run into the back of Mills, sending

Somogyi returns to the track...

Uh-oh, this looks bad : 3 wide, with Mills theman on the outside....

Two spins within a few hundred metres ruining Mills' great run...

On lap 19 of 23, and the standings are as follows....

Bringing up the rear of the field, is poor Joseph Gilson, struggling out there in the wet....

After the drama involving Mills and Somogyi, Daniel Thomas has lept into third position, and on the podium...

Dan Paddock is in 4th spot, closing in on Thomas as they run down the laps....

Meanwhile, Paulo Tafuro is in 10th spot, with cars in front and behind....

The TSS of Somogyi, the ART of Rodriguez, the MPR of Tafuro and the TNR of Edwards battle for finishing position....

Keeley Grant in the MAC Racing entry has tagged onto the back of this battle as well...

Stefan van Renselaar in pursuit of Somogyi....

But in that pursuit, van Reneslaar leaves the door open for those behind him....

The group of 5 cars battle it out in the closing laps, all while race leader Tobias Kederer leads the race by over 20 seconds...

Tafuro launches a passing move on van Reneselaar as the laps wind down...

But the door is slammed on Tafuro...

Further up the road, 6th place is comfortably in control by Carlos Rodriguez, even after his early race off track adventure....

And ahead of Rodriguez, the Snake Motorpsorts entry Nick Worseling is cruising with ease in 5th place...

On the last lap, Dan Paddock has not given up on getting a podium finish, piling on the pressure...

Thomas, Paddock and Davies scream through the Varianta Alta for the final time....

Adam Davies is in position to pounce, should anything happen on this last lap....

Our race winner cruised home to a comfortable win, over 20 seconds ahead of 2nd place finisher Nathan McGregor...

And taking 3rd place, is the Southern Cross Racing Holden, driven by Daniel Thomas...

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yeeeeeeeeeeeeees. My first podium and a double points finish for MAC Racing. Very happy with this result.

Now I hope the boys can go out there and do something similar in the main race.

Yeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaa!!!! :):):):)

Incredible, I really can't believe that I've won this race, with over 20 seconds gap to second. A big thanks to my team, the car was just perfect, in dry and wet conditions, it was a pleasure to drive it. Now it's partytime :D

Thanks Ruben, I hope you and Marko can get a similar result in main race.

But I cant read everything.... it should be written to the boost announcement, or in the first page...... If there would not be a feature race, i would be 2nd... with the race i resulted at 8th...... no comment......

Sorry to be harsh, but you acting like a baby. You made a mistake, that's why you ended in 8th position. Maybe you should read everything...

So I've been faster than my team-mate at every round where I've not used a boost, but the two races where I have done, I've been markedly slower...

exactly that.... In FP you can run bad laps, but you can correct them after. But in the race, there is no time for that. Actually, for this race using one boost was just WASTING....
I dont know who find out this feature race system, I dont need it, but at least announce that, which weekend be a race....

Great coverage Glen, top job!

And LOL at the misfortune, all that hard driving only to dance like a ballerina in the closing stages. Made for good entertainment though!

Never mind, there's always next time!

Zsigmond, it was announced early enough! And part of this league is to follow the other's comments as well and to react on them...so basically you should read everything anyway! Imagine how boring this all would be if everybody would only write "oh great, what a good race for me" or "crappy race" and that's it. So don't behave like a little brat but like a man and next time simply pay attention to the announcements if you don't want to use a boost in a feature race.

As Stu and Mal already said, it's totally up to the race director to decide if a feature race is run or not. Consequently, as it is necessarily decided spontaneously who directs the next race, this can't be announced much earlier. If you're still not fine with this, request an investigation from the GPGSL Government. It's that easy.

Well, actually, no it wasn't. The boost announcements where made 2 days before the feature race announcements. Personally, I had already submitted my boosts before the feature race was announced and when I saw that it was a feature race, I was a bit unhappy at having used a boost.

Okay, I see your point Nathan. I have to admit that I was unaware of the fact that it had been 2 days, I thought it was less. Nevertheless Zsigmond's argumentation that he would have been 2nd without the feature race is a bit off-balanced. Who knows if he would have qualified 2nd without the boost?!? And the rest stays the same as well. I think it's not asked too much to read, at least, what the others have written.

Yet, maybe with should think about the possibility to cancel a boost again if a feature race is announced after the boost announcement. Just as an idea into the direction of the GPGSL Government?!
