GP4central

Gigi4's right, I think the plan is to start off small and see how it goes.

For me, what this community really needs is somewhere that pulls all the updates together. This site is a wonderful place for all the contributors to publish their work, but it is still up to each user to find, download and install dozens of files to update their game. GP4 central should help users to locate all the best downloads, and get the most out of the amazing work the community does.

It would be totally sufficient to provide a list of available updates and their external download links (rapidshare, 4shared etc.),
that should be a lot easier (and cheaper) solution than to maintain a 5GB database, right?

the 'guide to updating gp4 to season 20xx' has always been very useful to me (when it was recently updated)..
so in my (not relevant ) opinion i'd say that's a good start..

Suggestion to first page is to put all "news" of that day and in downloads section we can put the link, if some users want to upload on another host for more option links is good too.

Guys can put an "avaliation system" too. Good downloads could be voted by 5 stars, poor downloads could be voted by 1 star or something like that.

Downloads could have sections like MODs, cars, pitcrews, tyres.... like gp4db.com

This sounds like a very good project, i hope you have the time and energy required to keep it going.
I would like to make a little contribution to your efforts: perhaps you already knows that i have put up a GP4-Cars and a GP4-Tracks Databases with all the relevant links to files published in several fora.
These databases (excel sheets) are updated to the 2009 season and are published.

Feel free to use these informations, either as a links-list or to contact the authors (also named in the files) to host the files on a download center.

2010 is very much in making, cars are published all the time, not always in good quality, there have been many corrections so far, so there is nothing so far really consolidated and there is no point in updating the list at this moment! Perhaps later, when everybody focuses on 2011 season!

I don't think it's going to happen. To be honest the current model works fine, with people posting links here and storing the files on rapidshare etc.

I can help you with loading screens, movies, grid cars and stuff like that and also could chip in with cash 10-15 per year is not that much. The best idea would be to to redirect from grandprixgames to the new site, because grandprixgames is a legend and has the exposure among the members of this community. Don't expect too many members though, Gp4 is an old game and few of the today kids have heard about it.

i think , gp4central is a good idea and i love this idea

I would love the have this idea, and if it was a website that had links to the files on it, rather than hosting the files which is expensive, then i think its doable
