GPGSL Season 5- S6 CALENDAR VOTE RESULTS

Posted by GPGSL
Welcome to the GPGSL Dubai GP. We already saw a interesting quali due to heavy rain. The weather forecast predicts light rain for today's race and there's a good chance that we'll see mixed conditions. So it's all about driving faultless and choosing a good strategy: will Alexander storm away with the lead? Can van der Voort retain 1st in the championship? We'll get the answers now!

The drivers await the start

Go! Maverick makes the best start, goes past Cartwright and attacks Alexander

He outbrakes Alexander into the first turn. Awesome work by Maverick

All cars make it through the first turn

Greenhalgh already up into 6th and attacking Cartwright

Maverick is opening a gap to Alexander

Greenhalgh makes full use of his boost and puts pressure on Cartwright and grabs 5th

End of the first lap. Maverick enjoys the clear view at the front

Greenhalgh seems to have an exceptional setup, he has a look a 4th place man Koemmerer

Uh Oh

Greenhalgh runs into Koemmerer's car, both spin...

and rejoin in 21st and 22nd.

Van der Voort still at the back of the pack

Standings after 3 laps

Maverick seems to like these difficult conditions, he's sprinting away

Somogyi and Horvath go into the first corner.

It goes wrong again.

Somogyi spins and falls back to last spot. Horvath is able to keep the right direction and just loses a few places

Davies overtakes Houston, who had storming first laps

Thanks to the incidents and some good driving Van der Voort is up into 12th

A lot of traffic in the midfield. That very corner seems to be perfect for overtaking, most maneuvers are succesful

Greenhalgh has closed the gap to the cars in front of him and storms through the backmarkers

Vilela is having a go at Cartwright

Standings

Houston runs wide and looses out to Van der Voort

Not again...

Davies and Fischeder join the club

Cartwright finds it difficult to kepp the car on the road

He looses three places in just a few corners

Maverick shows Alexander how it's done

Van der Voort takes Cartwright

Has Cartwright a problem with his car? He's down to 11th

Van der Voort on the move

Cartwright is overtaken by his teammate

Greenhalgh goes by as well

Mcgregor is having a tough race at the back of the field

The leader enters the pits for his first stop

Alexander goes into the lead

Time for new rubber

Maverick rejoins in 8th

Karjalainen is having a close look at Horvath

A bit too close for Horvaths liking

Jalving pits from 2nd

Finally Alexander heads towards his crew

Maverick regains the lead. Good work by his crew

Standings after the first round of pitstops

Vilela in 2nd, Jalving in 3rd and Alexander dropped to 4th. That's certainly a heavy blow to his race win ambitions

Van Dijk and Cartwright

C'mon guys

Walters tests the runoff

Van der Voort takes 5th from Santilal

Jalving made it past Vilela, Alexander has to hurry up if he wants to retain his chances

He makes it stick as well

Santilal out of the race with a puncture. The marshalls should get him out of the way quickly

Greenhalgh is already back in 8th

Van der Voort and Vilela. Oh dear

Van der Voort is lucky and rejoins in 8th

Vilela drops to 19th

Maverick enjoys his lead over Jalving

Alexander tries to get back his 2nd place

2nd round of pitstops begins

Again Maverick is one of the first cars in the pits

Alexander carries on. He needs some extra fast laps now

Greenhalgh pits from 3rd

Alexander into the pits

Nope, he was too slow. He even looses quite a lot to Jalving who stays in 2nd

YAY!

Standings after the final round of stops

Greenhalgh is catching Houston

McGregor and Koemmerer fight for the last point scoring position

Houston loses 5th to Greenhalgh

Somogyi takes 10th from Copeman

Van der Voort catches karjalainen in 7th

Greenhalgh up into 4th. One has to wonder what he could have done without that spin in the second lap

Houston, Karjalainen and Van der Voort battle for 6th position. This could get entertaining

Alexander closes up to Jalving but there isn't much time left for him.

Houston clips the kerb

He spins right into Karjalainen path

Both leave the track, Van der Voort says "Thank you" and goes through

Houston faces an new challenge

Karjalainen lost a lot of places and is now in 15th

Houston decides to motor backwards

He's back in first gear. Well done...

Just a few corners to go for Maverick. An impressive performance by him.

Aleander has no chance to get past Jalving. He has to settle for 3rd

John Maverick wins the Dubai GP. Congratulations to a superb drive, very well done!

Copeman ecstatic after VSM performance

After finishing his inaugural GPGSL race in 9th place new VSM race driver Chris Copeman was full of praise for the team. "This has been a fantastic result for us this weekend and shows exactly what we the team is capable of. Both John and myself drove well and managed to stay out of the incidents and brought home points paying positions. Congrats to John on the win and hopefully next round I can be up there with him. We said from the word go that we should be challenging for the points and this has shown what is possible, I'm over the moon!"

Last and second last... Great job team!

GPGSL WDC Season 4
Starting from 8th place, bad pace on the extremely slippery track, two hits from Somogyi and Karjalainen, and still finishing in the 7th place.
Luckily the others had bad luck too...
I will post tables when new page starts

Brilliant job to get two cars to the finish and in very respectable positions! Well done Ed for an exceptional drive to fourth.

ART Driver Charrel Jalving

Yes yes yes!! Wohoo! Finaly a weekend everything worked out for me! The car was perfect this weekend, everyone came here thinking we would have a dry race, but it was wet, very wet!

First great qualifying, and this race just want smooth! 2nd place is great, good to be on the podium again! Just to bad Koemmerer isnt here on the podium with me.
My team told me on the radio that it was chaos on the track and that I had to be carefull.. No way! Im driving on the limit..

Ohh, and I must say! Congrats to VSM driver John Maverick, what a performance.. The new kid was untouchable!

VSM race review

What a fantastic weekend it proves to be. After seeing the conditions in Qualy i already predicted chaos in the race. So i had my fingers crossed for a problem-free run John. For Chris i hoped he could benefit of other peoples mayhem.
Fantastic to see they both did ! This win and double points finish is much needed in our fight in the constructors championship.
I'm a bit out of words now, well done boys you've made me proud !

Also i'd like to congratulate good friend Charrel Jalving with his 2nd place. Good to be on the podium together again :D

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"If in doubt, Flat out."
congrats to Maverick for the win and copeman on 9th is also good. Good Race VSM.
Very disappointing for AMR. Especially Adam who I feel can do a lot better. Big well done to my former teammate John! Very much deserved.
I'd be interested to see who got the place bounus...starting as far back as I did I would think I may be within a shout...
