Not always. My pc and laptops both give BSOD's when my Gfx adapter overheats. Sometimes the games just freeze.

Well thats not good when it not restarts from itself, it could melt down your mainboard, ...
I had the exact same problem and my first suspicion that it was the power supply, was correct. On the machine I play GP4, I have an E6400 C2D with an 8800GTS card powered with a 600w EZ Cool PSU which was hardly a cheap unit (paid about £60 for it, I think). Anyway, further investigation revealed that, as usual with budget PSUs, 600w was its "peak" rating; 80-90% of the time it was running just over half that!

Long story short, I bought a Corsair 450w from Ebay (after the other PSU eventually went *bang* (literally)) and it's perfect... So check your PSU is up to the job and check the 12v rail(s) - need at least 36A (or at least 20A on each rail) if you're running a good GFX card.

I reinstalled the game, that should do it for you ;)
Yep, this is my opinion and general guidance but i always say go for a PSU from either Corsair, Be Quiet!, Seasonic or Antec (as Seasonic make most of the internals of the Antec units I believe) to be on the safe side. With these brands you can be sure you are getting a much better quality product than you'd get from an unbranded or brand like EZ Cool. (Although I have to note here my 2.5-3 year Seasonic PSU in one of my old machines seems to be on the way out, I have already replaced it as i was worried about the strange noises it was emitting ;))

Glad you got it sorted :)

Fair play. But for me, it was doing it not only in GP4, but when I was doing high intensity rendering in Photoshop etc. So it wasn't just GP4. Also, the PSU going bang actually meant I *had* to buy a new one anyway ;-)
