it could be everything that cause a shutdown of your pc but most times when playing a game its something todo with the graphic card or overheating issue.
I think a complete re-install is the best idea when you get a serious problem like this.

Alternatively, try selecting CPU to 0 in GPxPatch.

Alternatively, try selecting CPU to 0 in GPxPatch.

This can only cause a crash of GP4 not restarting the pc :-(

Thx! When I play GP4, the CPU hits always 100%. Isn't it bad for the pc to reduce the CPU to 0% with GPxPatch?

in gpxpatch that doesn't mean 0 % ! it has todo on what cores (cpu) your computer have to work.

ALL : Both cpu's if you have dual core or quad care all 4 cpu's will be used into the game: this option gives most crashes to desktop !

0 : Means core 1 (cpu)
1 : Means core 2 (cpu)

I always set it on 1 or 0 and the cpu goes ingame also to 100 % but thats no problem at all !

Does your pc restart on other games when you play or just with gp4 ? cause i think it could be an overheating problem that the computer restart for safety reasons!

what is a log?

An error report log, it's a text file generated by GPxPatch that shows where the error lies within GP4. Only this file is being generated now because the computer shuts down instead of crashing to your desktop.

do you get a flash of a blue screen before it shuts down?

maybe you should update your BIOS, i had this problem a few years ago, too, and then, i updated my BIOS, and everything was okay

Now everything is allright but when I want to play a race weekend-championship-nonchampionshiprace- the same problem happens after even 5 second!!
Updating you BIOS if you are not an expert of a PC i would NOT recommend todo yourself. If there goes something wrong your pc won't work anymore !!!

i don't give support on updating the bios cause thats a dangerous matter and i don't want to take the chance that your pc gets stuck.

Very strange: I installed everything on a much older PC and there, anything works perfect...
Hmmm, maybe ^^
yu have a good graphic card, but the cooling is very bad, i had this problem, too, i just bought this one: [www.arctic-cooling.com]
Primary, I had this Problem in rFactor, my graphic card had 120°C and more, now it has max 70°C ^^
I have HD4850 ;-)

Like i said already in my first post, if the pc restarts on his own without a message or blue crash screen then its an overheating problem. In the bios the Max temperature is set when it goes above it the computer restart for safety reasons. You should check when he restarts the temperature of the graphic card and cpu, i use speedfan for that !!
