I think the point is that if you want a game that pushes the edge of home racing simulation technology and you want to turn on all the fancy graphics options and you want it to play at full speed at high resolution, you need a top-of-the-range PC, especially the graphics card.

GPL once more. It is a MUCH more complex game than GP4 but it runs flawlessly.
Today's PC can run a lot.
When I was a child and I had C64 games where getting better and better with time, yet the hardware was still the same.
Don't let us take poor excuses for poor coding. That's the point.

I know some people cant spent a lot of cash on puters. Im a student too, so I know how hard it is to save up for expensive items. All I do is put some money aside for it every so often, simply because I like games and I want to play them looking decent. It also helps when your dad has an interest in games too :)

True, but it'd be easier to model 10 other steering wheels than introducing the logic for including a pace car.

So you don't go outside at night then? I see black clouds overhead quite often in storms. Black / Gray skies when raining then...

I shouldn't have to paint them

So don't complain when a brand new game comes out that your system wont run it. Just wait a couple of years until you can upgrade. It's not really that different to GP3/GP3 2000 - just some eye candy (WHICH YOU NEED A DECENT CPU AND GRAPHICS CARD FOR).

> "New graphics cards every 6 months..."

I actually meant new ones were coming out every 6 months. Not go and buy one every 6 months. I use a GeForce 2 MX 200 and run with excellent detail. The same as with GP3 2000.

Yeah so that means that you are running at the maximum for your current system then doesn't it.

Never played GPL although it is like $10 in a store here so I might pick it up and give it a whirl... Sierra make good games with good graphics. Nascar 2002 is excellent. Very polished as well, something that GP4 isn't

So are you say that Nascar 2002 runs badly on your system? What OS are you using... You have system issues as it runs fine on mine although I have an athlon 1800+ with 640 meg ram. Most details are full and I get easily 30 fps when racing amongst the pack.

How is it more complex, and how do you know?

who really gives a @!#$?

the only way we F1 fans are going to get a realistic F1 sim is if Papyrus get the license or they go to a company like the west bros & create the physics & forcefeedback to encompass modern day F1 parameters without the expensive licenses

leave the rest to the modding community

but... with the safety car. the 2001 season deployed more than that especially in monza where it went for 4 laps...

i do mined the formation lap... it does test your skill at parking it on grid

also a third spare car and red flag restart, eg german gp when that prost hit shuey at the rear...
dear dear...
but i do follow the 2002 season

"So you don't go outside at night then?"

Sorry, this may come as a slight surprise, but Formula 1 races don't actually take place at night-time.

LMAO!!! When its raining i dont go out at night....in Dundee, chances are i would get mugged

Im yet to see an F1 race at night, or black clouds during the day :)

"So don't complain when a brand new game comes out that your system wont run it"

Im not.

i have 1,7Ghz, GF4MX, 256Md RAM, and yet GP4 dont run that great.

Thats not my system, thats the GAME.

"So are you say that Nascar 2002 runs badly on your system? What OS are you using... You have system issues as it runs fine on mine although I have an athlon 1800+ with 640 meg ram. Most details are full and I get easily 30 fps when racing amongst the pack."

Ah but you see, all my games runnSUPER smooth except GP4 (runs average), and NASCAR (barely runs at all). All my other games run at amazingly fast graphcs and amazingly high res and detials.

I haven't used GPL - are you saying that it has all the advanced graphics options and features of GP4 and more - that would be impressive for a game several years older, written before many of those features were even supported by video cards...

If that's not what you mean, then in what ways is GPL more complex than GP4?

Well i never said that (Paolo did).

but GPL seems like a very complicaged game to me. GP4 seems even more complicated - but so advanced that it doesnt run well on all mahcines - where as i have never heard anyone say anything bad bout GPL!

I mean look at this - unedit pics of GPL, and GP4 (i mean un edited in the sense its a direct screen dump, rather than a photoshop edit

GPL [ /b]

GP4

these are the two best pics i can find
