Question on running GP4 Maxed out (Updated top of Pg.1 on Feb. 24th, 2009)

Posted by Renault#1Fan
Well I got my new computer I haven't put it up yet or updated but here's what I know I got. It's an Acer Aspire X1200, it has a Dual-Core processor, 3GB RAM/memory, and a 320GB hard drive, thats what I know so far about it. My graphics card, I bought a NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ with 1GB of video RAM. Is there anything else I am missing or is this good to run GP4 and rFactor with HIRES textures, and everything maxed out.

I might as well post it in here, I planning on getting a new PC soon. 2.9GHz Dual Core AMD, 2GB RAM and 1GB GFX. Will that be able to run the latest mods on completely maxed graphics?

@Renault#1Fan - A decent PC will need 1GB - 2GB of RAM for heavy gaming, the latest GP4 car's could be classed as heavy gaming so see if you can get more RAM if you only have 512MB or something.

gp4 is very cpu-oriented (instead of graphics card) so the bigger cpu you have the better results you get.

Intel Core2 Duo, 1.73.GHz, 2 GB of RAM, I use the bog standard Intel Graphics Accelerator and having no problems thanks to GPx Patch. PO round 50%, frame-rate 24 p/s. The one thing I will say is close any backround programs that are running, it makes a big difference, for me anyways.

Hi Scott, my friend.

-I suggest you go with a Intel E8600. Gp4 doesnt need more than 2 core procesors. With 4 looses it looses performance.

-Motherboard he we have to make a choice if you want ddr2 or ddr3.
If ddr 2 i suggest a DFI LP DK X48-T2RSB PLUS or if you want a ddr3 one
i suggest "ASUS P6T Deluxe LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard"

-Video card i would go with Ati radeon 4870.
Now the ram: Win xp you can use upto 3gb. Vista doesnt have this limitation.

-Power supply i suggest that you get a real good one. Remember that the heart
of the pc is the Power supply. I advice to ask computer seller of the shop
your going to buy the parts. If your buying online ill send a couple of
links to your pm box here.

kind regards
Jorge.

I have a AMD 64 X2 dual core 4400 2.30GHZ, 3gb RAM with an Nvidia 8500gt and I can run the latest mods at 40 to 55fps with everything but the pit dudes maxed out. However if I try tu run with the heat haze It becomes unplayable, so if you want to play with absolutley everything maxed out I recommend you get at least 3gb RAM and a 8800 gt or the equivalent ATI.

ooh!!!

Hey guys, just letting you know that i'm getting a new system built, it will have i7 920 overclocked to 3.7ghz, 6 gig ram, and 2 GTX 280 SLI :)

I'm going to turn everything up, 60fps, max details in f1graphics.cfg, everything will be on!

Lets see how it runs!

Nice.

I have a Intel E8600 that originally runs at 3.3ghz and
i got up to 4.8ghz with a water cooling system.

Dude, 6GB of RAM = Huge Mistake...

If you only have XP x32 then only 3 - 3.5GB of that will be picked up ;). You need XP x64 for all 6GB to picked up ;-)

Will Gp4 run well on that operating system ??
I saw many threads in this forum with issues.

Firstly F33LTH3F0RC3, Why AMD, Intel are clearly owning the market at the moment with their Core 2 CPUs, they far surpass most/all of AMDS offerings at the moment.

Secondly, For heavy gaming, Id say absolute minimum of 2GB of ram but id stroingly suggest 3-4gb, its so cheap its a silly to end up with main memory as a bottleneck. Also, ensure its DDR2 or 3, preferably DDR3 if you are building a new system.

For GP4, the more powerful graphics card you have the more AA and AF you will be able to get away with, resulting in a sharper and crisper image. However as someone else mentioned, GP4 is quite CPU bound, and a fast Processor with a nice amount of L2 cache will run GP4 a treat (Fast CPUs allow you to run hi-poly cars, lod 0 only etc, it also helps dramatically with the hi-res textures).

There's just a few pointers, if you need any more help, or would like some help spec-ing a system up for a given budget, i'd be happy to give you a hand :).

Yep ;)

did the research, got the asus rampage 2 extreme motherboard, corsair hx 1000w psu, cosmos s case, velociraptor system drive, 1tb caviar black storage, and noctua NH-U12P SE1366 cpu cooler :)

cost so much, but i think i deserved a little present to myself :)

now have to start saving for a holiday, i told my girlfriend that it was only half the price it actually was :p

OK thanks for the reply's guys. I have 1.5GB of RAM right now, but I added the 1 GB a few months ago and VISTA almost ate that up to, I have to more spots left for RAM, should I fill both spots with 1 GB of memory giving me an extra 2GB?

Fill it with what your motherboard will allow, ideally all the same too. That odd half-gig could use replacing with a gig or 2 gig stick.

Vista needs at least 2 Gig to runn smooth, XP only needs 512 Mb(not recommend though whit the latest games)....

But what I badly need is a new Prosessor, or Mother Board. My PC is almost as old as GP4 is, but I has some small updates (new Graphic card and 1 Gig of memory added), but like Pentium 4, 2.66 Ghz is badly and some games runn in lag mode, even offline (CoD5)....

Update top of the 1st page.
what operating system? :p
