Thanks very much for your interest guys - the game has been going strong for 6 years so I'm glad it looks set to continue in this fashion!

As I said, please PM me with your e-mail address if you'd like to receive a handbook and sign up properly. There are currently limited spaces available but if there is sufficient interest I will open up a second series. I'll need 4 or 5 more teams to be able to achieve this.

Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you.

May I ask where I might find the previous six years worth of racing?

On my hard-drive. I ran the game on GP3 originally, then one season on F1 1999-2002 (which was a disaster) before moving to GP4. There aren't currently any managers left from the very first season, although there are 2 guys who have been taking part for 5 years.

I've advertised it in the past on the 'Other Games' forum, but it's only recently that I've refined it to such a level that it appeals to a larger audience. I'm very glad that I tried advertising it on the GP4 forum now!

OK, I'm going to go for 2 divisions of the series for the first time.

I currently have 16 teams signed up. If we can get a minimum of 20, the split series idea will work perfectly.

So, I'm looking for another 4-6 teams to sign up. ShueyFan, are you still interested?

Toby, about how the performances is calculated related to the six components of the setup, i presume there is a perfect setup for each circuit what results in a very high chance to win, so the algorithm takes that in account?

Yes, there is an optimum setup for each circuit.

It's difficult to explain here but, basically, each of the six components are allocated a multiplier value based on their relevance to performance on that circuit (as an example, 'Suspension' would get a higher multiplier value at Imola than it would at, say, Shanghai). This value is then multiplied by the level of the component you have chosen at set-up.

So an 'optimum set-up' would involve you identifying which components are most relevant to performance on a given circuit, and taking them to as high a level as possible using the set-up points at your disposal.

All of this is usually explained in the pre-season Paddock Press anyways. You'll be used to it once you've done a few races!

Thanks for the 100% clearance Toby. :)

I see that in the F400 handbook copyright brand names are not allowed for teamnames, but are sponsors allowed on the car?

If that is so I can't have my team as SEGAteam!!!! its not really a sponsor but a part owner.

The game doesn't involve sponsorship because there is no money involved in running the team. I felt that it would add an extra layer that would be fun for some, but too complicated for others, and ultimately unnecessary. The team name is written big on both sidepods, and 'Formula 400' is across the rear wing, so there's no big spaces left for sponsors anyway. :)

By the way, please remember to PM me with your e-mail address if you'd like to sign up. And if I've already e-mailed you with a handbook, the only way you can confirm your place is to e-mail me back with your team name and nationality, and driver names and nationalities.

Thanks! I think we're currently on 16 teams (providing everyone I've sent a handbook DOES sign up), so there will definitely be 2 simultaneous series.

Provided you can clearly see the team name, yes

Edit: Jason and Ed, I've not got your names, etc. yet and haven't sent you the car design filers, so I'm interested how you're currently designing the car? :)

The game will run in TWO SERIES this season - a "Pro" series and a "Rookie" series. At the end of the season I'll shuffle up the teams based on how successful they are, into a sort of Promotion/Relegation system.

TEAMS REGISTERED FOR THE ROOKIE SEASON:-

1 Rob Moran - Trillbyhat Racing
2 James Phillips - Jimbo Racing F400
3 John Warrington - TRFC Racing
4 Ryan Gault - Italian-English Racing
5 Daniel de Souza - DDS Racing
6 Ruben Greidanus - Reckless Racing
7 Ed Greenhalgh - Alpha Motorsports
8 Tilina Herath - Nerazzurri

There are still 3 or 4 places left to sign up for. If you've been sent a handbook but don't see your name up no that list, please e-mail me ASAP with your team details to confirm your place. :) Many thanks.

P.S. Kudos to Ed and Tilina for managing to think up a team name that doesn't include the word 'Racing'...

Toby, it would be very nice if the helmets are based on the 2005 Arai shape and we use the high res rims and tyres from the 2001 mod, it gives the F400 serie more quality and the default rims and tyres won't be spoiling the nice looking cars.

yes, that is a good point, if your computer can handle the higher quality.
