Hi all

After having gp4 for a month now, and struggling to get the mod working at all decently on my laptop, i went to work in desperation!

So i got it to work at a po of no higher than 110 and mostly 50-70, and at a decent framerate of 20, on 1024x768, albeit with all details down to off - but no matter, better than 300 po with same settings!

The only thing i did - simple, as you all obviously know - is i changed and deleted the lod_0 files of all the cars where possible, and then moved the next lod up one or 2 places, eg. Lod1 or lod2 becomes lod0, etc. Until i have less detailed lods. And bravo, it worked a charm!

Also, i noticed only say a difference of 10po between a resolution of 1024x768 and 640x480. So i believe my weakness is not my onboard graphics but rather my processor. I thought this was the case,as it has played well on much more graphically intense games.

But thanks for the advice JC. I was just so desperate to get it to work!

Cheers
Ho3n3r

run low resolution textures, they're one of the biggest hits. Whats you're specs?

Yeah, and try replacing the lod_4s with default ones. That will save a lot and not lose any top lod details.

I have a question. When I use Lewis Hamilton it always glitches in his pitbox and it won't release me. It's kind of annoying and I was wondering if there was a patch for it?

This is 2006 mod, not 2007. Hamilton never raced in '06...

Hey JC.

Well i didn't use the tutorial, just figured it out by common computer sense... But where can i find the tutorial mate? That could also be very useful. I am trying to get it to run as smoothly as possible :P and it must be added that i dont play with mirrors on because that makes alot of difference in terms of po. But i think that helps my driving in the game because i am always concentrating on whats in front of me and braking points, hehe!

I'm talking about the 2007 beta mod that comes with the 2006 mod.

I hope I won't get blamed for necroposting here, but I think all mod-related things should be posted in the mod's section, at least I hope so...Sorry if this is handled differently.

Ok, I run the mod 2006 + Update + trackpack and it runs very fine, except a little issue also found in the 2005 mod: When leaving the pits there is a white menu onscreen for Fuel, Leaving Pit etc. The problem is this menu stays there when you race and it's disturbing. Is there a way to get rid of it? I'm sure this is not intended.

Thanks,
XenonS

I ran this mod since a long Time and never noticed what you describe.
Take a screenshot and post it here.
May be we could help by viewing this issue

Hi gezere, thanks to answer here, I appreciate. I will try to put here 2 shots, just before leaving pits and then on the track, you will see 2 lines of the menu not going away (in white on the wheel). In the 2005 mod the same, only that in Cam-view 2 letters of this menu (part of SELECT FUEL) the 'SE' is there as a ghost and moving together with the wheel on left part of the screen, a reason why I had to stop playing that excellent mod.

gezere,
I have changed to the 'Team-Specific' wheels and the meinu doesn't disturb anymore. But if you want to see what I mean, then switch to the Default Wheel and you notice immediately. In the 2005 the problem is more severe and disturbing in the T-Cam view (which I use to race with). Is it possible to move this menu up/down/left/right ? To fix this I could possibly lower my resolution (I play with 1920x1080) and try to fit the menu position, but sorry, that's the last thing I want to do... I realize that it's impossible to use default wheels with the defaul LCD display activated on the wheel, no mod does allow this I think or you have to use the standard cars. But I'm sure this starting car menu can be moved somehwere (GPxPatch and panels ?)

Nice mod overall, the cars and wheels look great, but maybe the cars are too large? This would explain why during a race some cars get stucked in the pits and can't go out anymore. Also in the Monte Carlo GP the cars go through walls on the 1st curve after the tunel.

Here a screenshot showing how a car is stucked in the pits:

Humm..sorry, I hit the PrintScreen instead of F11, so no screenshot, but maybe this has been reported already?
