If you wanna have a good cc-line, you can ask Ruboy or Prblanco for a very good cc-line.

My Grand Prix 4 Files

I'm a total dick. How many people can say that?

yep, you duplicated sector 0 specific cmds over the whole track...

you'll have to go round the whole track & delete the duplicated commands.

these are: track banking 0
sun position
adjust horizon
track complimentry data
left track width 0
right track width 0

cc line is least of your worries atm......

i did some tweaks with the flag commands to position them in better sectors..
but you need to sort the duplicate commands ouit first..

i did 13 sectors last nite if you want this dat file back as an example ?

What can cause the pitlane.bin file to cause a crash at the end of the loading bar?

I was orignally using the Spa.wad and DAT file as a base, I renamed everything to hockenheim and it still crashes. If I replace my pitlane.bin with the orignal hockenheim or Spa one, then the track loads no problem.

thanks
paul..

I had the exact same problem with a fictional track I was starting about two months ago. I never managed to fix it (well, it's not like I tried many things to fix it neither).

what's the best way to create the half tarmac, half gravel runoffs as seen at sepang this weekend. is it to subdivide faces (what i currently do), or is there an easier way to do it.

I think what you are currently doing is probably the easiest way. I can´t think of anything that would be any easier.

@paranoik0 - Just out of curiousity, what DAT file did you use? Was it Spa as well?

It was Melbourne.

I'm thinking it might be a problem with the last version of GP4Builder or a problem with long tracks near the GP4 limit, since mine had 1473 sectors, 7.1kms long. How long is your track?

Not that long. Around 5.2Km I think. I'll try making the Dat file with an older version of 3deditor and see if that works.

Edit: Tried it with 3dEditor 15.3, and it still crashes.

Check the gp4 file to make sure there are no corrupt textures as that was what was wrong with Adelaide.

Would that effect the BIN files?

I think I tried it with the orignal SPA wad, but i´ll double check that.

found an easier way, just made a texture with a half tarmac/half gravel texture. but i think i will still need to do the subdividing for the col file.

That work with the .col file is a real pain in the ass ;) I hope Lo2k will find a way to make this easier in case he continues developing GP4Builder one day in the future.

If you create a mixed texture (gravel and tarmac) the quality will be quite bad because you can only apply it one time (from 0 to 1) to a face...it will look streched and very low-res. It's always better to subdivide faces and apply a new texture which can be mapped several times so that it looks sharp and detailed...but it requires more work.
