There was a technical problem with the old GP4 track editing thread. It seems threads become weird after they reach a certain size. I have locked the old thread up, and this is your new sticky.

It should be safe to browse the old thread, as the technical problem seems to be related to posting. So for future reference, you can find the old thread here:

ok. in the meantime i've uploaded my latest project - hockenheim short circuit as used in the 1996 ITC championship and other things.
its far from finihsde but is drivable, and available here

Great work! Are Suzuka short and Hockenheim short only test tracks or are you going to improve them so that they will be perfect? Would be nice because these tracks are really cool

um, i might come back to them as i learn more track editing. the hockenheim version was used in the 1996 ITC series so maybe one day i'll update that and include all the tracks used :p

@Lo2k - do you think it will be possible to have 3d->dat conversion one day? maybe at some very simple level atleast?

No, not in a close future. (before you ask, a "close future" is 6 month long for me )

ok, i'll take that as not a 'no'

have you looked at f1c tracks to see if they can be converted? i've no ides how they are made but maybe they have co'ords that can be converted some how???

what about an export to txt function for 3De i mentioned earlier? any chance of that in the 'close future'

Well as f1c tracks are very (if not extremely) similar to 3ds files, i'm guessing it will not be in a close future

about that, export sounds nice, but what would be extremely good is import, if i had that during bahrain it would have saved me 2 weeks at least.
